Please join us on Tuesday 1st December for the second in our series of Magic Dinners. Raising money for @magicbreakfast_uk Welcome @gemma_dallyn 🙌 Gemma’s cooking is grounded in seasonality, a nose to tail philosophy and a deep respect for exceptional produce, often brought to life over wood fire. Raised on her family’s farm on the Exmoor coast, her connection to land and sea instilled a lasting appreciation for provenance, sustainability, and the natural rhythms of the seasons. Now based in Perthshire, Gemma creates intimate, ingredient led dining experiences inspired by the Scottish landscape. Through supper clubs, collaborative events, and independent food projects, she celebrates local provenance, preservation through the hungry gap and the close relationships between growers, producers, and cooks. Her approach is generous and thoughtful, bringing people together through food that reflects place, season and community. Beyond the pass, she is committed to mentoring young chefs and championing a more compassionate, connected hospitality industry. We’re very excited to announce our Magic Dinner Series. 💫 Over the coming months, we’ll be cooking alongside some amazing chefs from across the UK to raise money for Magic Breakfast — a charity working with schools across the country to help end morning hunger as a barrier to education. Magic Breakfast provides nutritious breakfasts to children and young people who need them, helping them start the school day ready to learn. 20% of every ticket sold across the series will go directly to the charity. We’ll share more about each dinner closer to the date, including the menu and a link to book. First up is @rosiemaguire1996 — bookings for her dinner go live at 5pm tonight. @francesca_pulixi 🎨 by @eleanore_leithwalk

I’ve recently come to the conclusion that my favourite time to go out for a meal is a Saturday afternoon. There’s something so luxurious about having all the time in the world for a leisurely lunch that can stretch into the evening and beyond. So when we saw that the @eleanore_leithwalk lunch menu was available on Saturdays, we felt like we’d struck gold. We’d visited before, but hadn’t been since the renovation and oh my god, it’s stunning. It’s such a small, cosy space, with refined interiors that somehow transport you to a chic little bistro in Paris, despite being right on Leith Walk. As for the menu, you’d be hard pushed to find better value in the city. Two courses are £26, or three for £29, with the option to add snacks or supplement certain mains (which we obviously did). We started with snacks: English muffins with miso honey butter which, omg, are a must. Served warm and the perfect mix of sweet and salty, we’d happily go back just for these. For starters, we had the smoked haddock with leek, quail egg and arenkha, which was easily one of the most flavour-packed dishes we’ve tried this year. We also shared the tomato tarte fine with ricotta, basil and olive - a little work of art on the plate. For mains, the lamb rump with asparagus, crowdie, mint and pine nut was a dreamy combination. I decided to go the extra mile with the wagyu bavette and fries for an additional £12 and honestly, where else are you getting a steak this good and this size for £38? I’ll be thinking about that peppercorn sauce for the rest of my life, probably. We finished with a silky chocolate mousse with whipped crème fraîche, and washed it all down with some very reasonably priced wine! Definitely one of our faves in the city! Get yourselves along asap xx 🧾 Here’s how we split the bill. £44.50 each (before services charge) got us: 🍷 1 x glass of Albariño: £6 🍺 1 x pilot lager: £5 🍷 1 x glass of Sangiovese: £5 🧈 English muffins w Miso butter: £6 🍽️ 3 course lunch: £29 🍽️ 2 course lunch: £26 🥩 Steak supplement: £12 Edinburgh restaurants | Edinburgh lunch guide | Leith Walk | Edinburgh Fringe guide | Lunch in my city | Scottish restaurants by @eleanore_leithwalk
