On nature & beauty 🌀 from my favorite coffee table book.

A contemplation that connects me to something bigger than myself, yet something we’re all connected to, something divine. To be in awe of the beauty in the world feels like the most reverent thing I can do. To notice. Sometimes it’s the small things like how the sunlight filters through the trees. Other times it’s something grander, a place in nature maybe I’ll only see once in my life. To gaze upon it feels like communion. Then come the tears, a welcome response — the only fitting response — to a sight so marvelous.

I take a walk outside everyday, and today I noticed I had stopped noticing. Not completely, but not totally present either. I don’t know when, or for how long, but I suppose somewhere along the way I got caught up in all my worries and minute to-do’s and made that the center of my attention. It happens. Today, I’m being reminded to slow down again. To take it all in. Every time I do it makes my heart grow an inch.

End of summer 🍒
Read the unfinished stack of books on my nightstand.
Took photos of my outfits because it’s fun.
Went to the US Open for the first time and stayed until 12:30am to see Naomi Osaka win (and her iconic outfit).
Further integrated my sound practice.
4 years of living in NYC passed.
So did another trip around the sun.

Earlier this year, I found a record my mom kept of me from ages 0-2 of anything new or of note that I did. It made me smile, like I recognized her. A reminder of my true nature. Who I was before the world told me. That actually, through it all, I haven’t lost sight of her. I’ve just been returning to her. On my birthday, I’m reflecting on this, and how I can continue to bring my core essence through in my life. I hope to take in life 100% through fresh eyes, forever and always. ♥️

She still just wants to love everyone and everything and is also a curious, silly, sassy diva who knows what she wants and has a mouth on her ;)

8/8/23 🤍 Syndesi turns 3 🎈Thank you to everyone who has supported us in any way, shape, or form. We love you!

Some behind the scenes moments over the years. Starting from DIY photoshoots in my parents’ backyard to get the site up and running, to pop-ups, events, meeting the inspiring artisans I get to work with, sourcing their gorgeous pieces, and so, so much more.

Today, I feel it’s important to come back to that initial why, that spark of excitement of creating. From the heart. I wanted to do things differently. To show that a business can be heart-centered and successful. And I’m still on that journey, but it’s something I wholeheartedly believe in. That you can do things your way. Without compromising on integrity. Making a positive impact. Prioritizing quality over quantity. Respecting the process and time it takes to bring things to fruition. Everything is done with intention.

I go and meet with every artist before I work with them. I learn their stories and craft, see and feel the pieces, and really try to immerse myself in their world. It’s about highlighting them and their work. When I share a new collection, it’s not just the products. It’s doing justice to the artist behind them, and giving them the recognition they deserve, to the best of my ability.

I take all the product and artist photos, write the stories, ship the orders – I’m involved in every step of the process. Each step is a process in itself, and I feel a little rebellious to be honest, to not rush it, and go against the grain of what I’ve been told about how a business should be run. I’m trusting and trying my own way of doing things. And it feels important to not lose sight of this. Being this involved is what keeps it heart-centered for me. I get to be reminded of what I’m doing and why, and put love into every part of it. So, I really hope you do see and feel that.

Special shoutout to my ancestors, family, lineage, and all the people and places I’ve connected with through Syndesi! This is my fuel. The thread woven through everything. My true why ♥️

P.S. we’re running a birthday sale site-wide this weekend to celebrate 🎉

For the Instagram scrapbook of my life, it feels important for me to mark this here.

I’ve been listening to @kidcudi since 2008, from the beginning. He’s one of my favorite artists, and definitely the most sentimental, to me. His music came into my life when I needed it most. It got me through some of my darkest times. When I felt totally alone and misunderstood, his music made me feel seen. I would just listen to him on repeat. My anthem, my balm, for all the words and emotions I couldn’t express. So many of his fans say he saved their lives, and I share the sentiment. That’s the power of music. It kept my heart’s flame alive, and gave me the fight to make it through the moments when it felt really hard to be here.

I used to wish that I could meet him one day just to tell him how much his music impacted me. I knew that if I did, there were sure to be tears. So last year, when I felt like I had healed so much of that pain within myself and felt truly alive and happy to be here, it came as a surprise that that wish came true. And I was right, tears were involved. It felt like a full circle moment.

Much of it is a blur to me, but I remember his presence, and at the end of sharing the words I had kept in my heart for so many years, he asked me if he could have a hug. That moment felt like going back in time to that teen version of me who was struggling, and giving that hug to her, like what his music had done. It felt symbolic that I made it through that darkness, and that chapter was over.

The first photo was taken that day at the Tribeca Film Festival for the premiere of his short film for his song “Neverland.” Following his journey over the years, and seeing that he’s made it through his own darkness (at the time he shared how excited he was to be getting married soon), I felt really happy for him too.

I finally got to see him in concert a few weeks ago in LA, my hometown, which also felt significant, and there were less tears. It felt lighter, more like a celebration. I can connect with those past versions of myself and be grateful they got me here. That I kept going. That I never gave up. It was a joyous occasion. Dreams do come true. That’s all✌🏼♥️ by @elenielef
