We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jeffrey Archer.

Over the years, he was more than a much-loved guest at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. He was a captivating storyteller who returned to Dubai time and again to share his stories, writing experiences, and passion for literature with audiences.

His books have reached generations of readers around the world, leaving an enduring mark on the literary landscape. His legacy lives on through the stories he told and the millions of readers who found themselves immersed in them.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and readers around the world. by @elfdubai

Is your school librarian a literary hero, tirelessly encouraging pupils to love books and inspiring them to read for pleasure?

Then nominate them for the School Librarian of the Year Award, anyone who is working in a school library in the UAE can be nominated.

The award recognises outstanding and exemplary work by a school librarian working with any school age group up to the age of 18.

We acknowledge that librarians can be unsung heroes and therefore self-nominations are also welcome.

The British Embassy attended the Reading for Pleasure Caravan Conference which travelled across Dubai, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

Reading for Pleasure is an initiative by the Emirates Literature Foundation, founded by Isobel Abulhoul OBE, to inspire the love of reading among students.

His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and Pakistan, and His Majesty’s Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Gemma Stevenson attended the Opening Day held at The Museum of the Future in Dubai.

His Majesty’s Ambassador Geraldine McCafferty attended the Abu Dhabi edition of the Conference, held at The Higher Colleges of Technology.

Now in its third edition, the conference is driven by a shared purpose: to explore the most effective ways to nurture a love of reading, inspire a lifelong enjoyment of books, and embed reading as an integral part of everyday life.
