Incantation; an invitation, and a prayer.
Look. Come closer. Be here. Be aware of the expansiveness, and delight in intricate detail. In art and community. There is more to come, more to see, more to know...when we look closer. I invite the ethereal and a sense of wonder, and find respite from the busyness of the world, in creation. Curiosity shapes the final piece. In this space, my hands seem to find their way to the next stitch, and my eyes fall on the next fleck of color for detail.

Experimentation, exploration, and play are key to my creative process.
Incantation is a multi-layered, up-cycled, textile dreamscape. I created original artwork, which was photographed and printed onto fabric for layering and intuitive stitching. Delicate clouds of handmade paper hang throughout the dreamscape. Each cloud holds the memories of children’s big ideas as the paper was created using scraps of discarded artwork from the Fort Mill Cooperative Preschool’s art studio.

Currently on display @themintmuseum Uptown .

❤️ Many of our favorite pieces of public art in the city are the ones made with community participation. There’s an undeniable magic embedded deep within them.

The love, joy, and creativity poured into a new series of pavement and sidewalk murals in Plaza Midwood is clearly palpable. That’s largely thanks to a community engagement process led by artist @ellafaeart.

EllaFae is an award-winning mixed-media installation and fiber artist living and working in Charlotte, NC. She was voted “Best Visual Artist” in the QC Nerve 2020, 2022, and 2025 Best in the Nest Awards.

💫Her community work taps into the power of art, mindfulness, and experiential learning. She encourages self-reflection and the opening of the mind through the creation of meaningful art.

It’s such a privilege to see residents get involved and become artists right before our eyes. Thanks to EllaFae and @megannits for these images.

JUST ADDED! A new series of ten sidewalk and street murals, and a median sculpture have appeared in Plaza Midwood. “Joy in the Shadows” was created by artist @ellafaeart in collaboration with the community. Through several workshops, neighbors collected shadows to be preserved in paint. ☀️

This series encourages those strolling by to be present and notice the sweet details.

This artwork was funded through a @cltgov @clturbandesign Placemaking Grant with @plaza_midwood.

Kids home from school today? Head down Fulton Ave to check out the latest pop of color in the ‘hood. With the installation of our sculpture, the Fulton Streetscape art project is now complete. Enjoy some highlights from the install and from our @artwalksclt celebration this past weekend! Thanks to @ellafaeart for brightening our neighborhood with her magic and to @breestallingsart for leading the walk. We loved hearing more about public art in Charlotte and its role in our community. Drop a heart if you are looking forward to the next project in the ‘hood! 🧡 Thanks to to @clturbandesign for making the project possible! taken in Plaza Midwood by @ellafaeart

Visiting artist Elizabeth Palmisano as part of The Hands Project has been such a lovely experience.
In her fairy-tale-like studio, she creates art that honors human dignity, fosters connection, and invites people into spaces where they feel seen and valued.
She also hosts workshops and classes in this beautiful space, opening her studio to others as a place of learning, conversation, and shared creativity.

For her, art is not simply a product, but a process of listening, observing, and responding, rooted in real conversations, shared experiences, and the invisible threads that connect us all.

Working across mediums, from layered textures to large-scale murals and interactive installations, her approach remains the same: reflecting the people, stories, and places she engages with. Shaped by lived experience, including growing up in poverty and working closely with children, she believes creativity awakens what already exists, making space for it to be recognized and honored.

At its core, her work is an act of recognition: I see you. You matter. This story, this moment, this connection all matter. taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @ellafaeart
