Reflecting on this summer as I head home today, and I am simply overwhelmed with gratitude. Dearest @steffensmatthew- knowing you is a gift. I will cherish every second spent in and out of the studio, and am so excited to continue this ride together. Thank you for your love and trust in me. It means the world. @nicholas.sipes, you are a dream. Being out there with you has been an absolute thrill. @littlemsbossy, you are such a powerhouse, and I’m so honored to have met and worked with you. I will hold this brilliant production of yours near and dear to my heart. Shout out to @melb201! Could not have done this without you. Also, big hugs to @lianggg_bao and @morgan_bailie_ for slaying my lewks, and the entire crew for keeping the show shining night after night. It truly takes a village. Last but certainly not least- THIS. CAST. This incredibly supportive, hilarious, stellar cast. Your talent is beyond. Sharing the rehearsal room and stage with you all has been an ineffable experience, and I’m a better artist because of it. Thank you for all the giggles on and off the stage! Been thinking about what I want to work on, and this is what came to mind. Giselle was the first ballet I was drawn to, and the reason I wanted to become a storyteller. It was also the first production I got to be a part of as a professional. Studying something that’s familiar yet completely foreign feels very rewarding.

Here’s a peek at the first day of Act I 🌼💔 I already love seeing everything through her eyes… no surprise there. 🥲

Meet Woman in Motion dancer, Emily Cardea! ✨

A native of New York City, Emily Cardea began studying dance at Studio Maestro under Francois Perron, Deborah Wingert and Marina Stavitskaya. Additionally, she attended Professional Performing Arts School and School of American Ballet, where she trained with teachers such as Peter Boal, Garielle Whittle, Katrina Killian and Darci Kistler. At age eighteen, she began dancing with Orlando Ballet, where her repertoire included roles in The Nutcracker, Giselle, Carmen, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Swan Lake. She has also performed and acted Off-Broadway, and in numerous dancing guest roles in both theater and television. Cardea has danced with NYC-based companies such as Tom Gold Dance and MorDance, and is currently in her fourth year as a dancer with The Metropolitan Opera. Her repertoire at The Met Opera includes La Traviata, Aida, Tannhäuser, Turandot and The Magic Flute. Most recently, she made her Santa Fe Opera and Dallas Opera debut as a principal dancer in the original cast of Louisa Muller’s La Traviata. Cardea is thrilled to be back for her fourth season with Woman in Motion!
