Oh man how I wish I had murals in my school growing up.

I remember hearing one of the students say “Wow, this hallway feels a lot less-prisony”. And so naturally🤪, it had to be the caption to this post.

This piece was inspired by a conversation the principal and I had. He mentioned his desire to display “Connection and togetherness”, which led me straight down the holding hands rabbit hole. Hands held tight, connected in the center, and with others grasping at connection on the outside. A reflection of the hands sit below them to represent a reflection of themselves and the Bay Area that surrounds Daphne. Local and some non local flowers grow through and around the hands to represent growth and change throughout HS. The color palette is based off of the school colors, but of course, I had to throw in some pops of pink.

Lucky to know such an amazing school system in Daphne, AL who encourages art in their hallways. Thank you to Daphne School for having me on this project!

Thank you to my team at @egartstudios for assisting!

Progress and final shots of my recent install 💫

I created this piece for @quikreteconcrete Birmingham, AL location. Their slogan is “What America is Made of”. Naturally, I decided to represent that slogan using dirty hands that metaphorically have been hard at work, “repairing what’s broken”.

Thank you Quikrete Bham location for having me!

As summer was coming to a close, I completed a mural for @durbinfarms in Clanton, AL. If you haven’t been there by now, you’re missing out on THE best peaches and other amazing locally farmed produce.

The goal was to represent the agricultural side of Durbin Farms in this design while including hidden meanings that relate to the owner’s story. This piece was a challenge given the corrugated metal surface but turned exactly as we had hoped.

Big thank you to Colby and Lindsey at @durbinfarms for having me on this project. You both were an absolute pleasure to work with.

Have you been to Durbin Farms??

There’s nothing more rewarding to me than creating something with my own hands. And Ai simply cannot compare to a man made artwork. #aislopiskillingusall .

Loved working on this piece and had tons of fun learning new techniques with spray paint when painting these hands.

This was SO fun but can’t even lie, this heat whooped my butt. I’ve worked in the heat for years but something about being near the Florida line and amongst wasps, massive spiders and God knows what else, had me excited to see the finish line. 🏃‍♂️

My client wanted wildflowers, butterflies, and bees painted on the side of her home in honor of her daughter. It was important I put my blood, SWEAT, and definitely many tears into this piece. Needless to say tho, I truly enjoyed painting this piece for many reasons, one being that my clients were the sweetest souls 🥹and two being that I got to play with a new style with no pressure.

Would you paint a mural on the side of your home?

Final shots of this mural @fourcopperpennies on @columbiana_mainstreet 🌷

The hands depicted are my grandmothers hands as I had asked her to be my muse for this mural design. However, the hands are representative of the business’s mom. The hands are seen holding a flower and gracefully admiring a humming bird to represent nurture and admiration of the beauty around her. The watch is a symbol of time passing; “as time passes she continues to love the four of us, our spouses, and her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren in the most remarkable way.” -Faulkner Family

To tie in the Faulkner family’s business named Four Copper Pennies, we included four pennies on her bracelet and a penny as a pin in the upper left corner with the verbiage in place of the Pennie’s original text “Life is Short, Throw a Party” being the business’s motto and “2026” representing the year they opened.

She is seen with four candles in front of her to represent the four daughters in the Faulkner family. In addition, there are four pennies on her bracelet to also represent the four daughters. The business’s mom’s favorite color is yellow, so of course, we had to include a yellow shirt.

Last but not least, the frame around her is representative of a Polaroid picture to convey “capturing a moment” or memory in time. And shown again in the right hand corner of the Polaroid is the phrase “Life is short, throw a party” in the business’s mom’s hand writing.

I’m in absolute awe of how much meaning we put into this piece and I’m SO thankful to @fourcopperpennies for trusting my vision.

Final shots of my recently completed mural of myself 🙈 in Columbiana, AL on Main Street.

This idea of me laying in a reflective thin body of water with large lily pad leaves and bolivias around me came to me in a dream. However, the face in the dream looked slightly different as I initially thought to paint someone else but I used this photo of me as reference for the client to view the concept idea. In that meeting, Dee mentioned she loved the idea of me painting myself SO here we are🕺The animals sleeping against my body and a humming bird keeping my attention felt very “Mother Nature” esc. and I was totally here for it as I’m currently in my farming era and mother those animals like they’re my children🐓.

This project took a total of 12 days in 93° weather😅

Thank you SO much to my amazing client, Dee with @columbiana_mainstreet. Columbiana Main Street funded this project and allowed creative freedom through and through.
