When your child is diagnosed with epilepsy, the early days can feel overwhelming. Questions, uncertainty and concern for your child’s wellbeing can make it hard to know where to start.

That’s why the Epilepsy Foundation has launched our New Diagnosis Pathway - a dedicated support program for parents and carers of children newly diagnosed with epilepsy 💜

This pathway includes two group workshops, facilitated by our experienced Epilepsy Advisors, covering practical information and emotional support to help families feel more confident and informed 🧠 Parents also have the opportunity to connect with others going through a similar experience, and access one-to-one support if needed.

📅 Our upcoming sessions can be viewed via the link in our bio.

For more information or to register, please contact the National Epilepsy Support Service on 1300 761 487 or support@epilepsysmart.org.au or visit the link in our bio.

Eden was diagnosed with photosensitive epilepsy on 1 May 2026. Since then, she has discovered that some of the biggest challenges aren’t always the seizures themselves - but how people respond to them.

Eden experiences tonic-clonic and myoclonic seizures, triggered by light. But she's noticed a shift in the way some people feel around her, even when there are no flashing lights or immediate risks.

The fear. The uncertainty. The friendships that can change when people don’t understand epilepsy or know how to help.

It’s something Eden wants to change 💜

Because epilepsy might change someone's circumstances, but it doesn't change the person they are.

Eden wants people to understand that there are simple ways to support someone with epilepsy, and that a diagnosis doesn't have to mean lost friendships or missed connections.

That’s why she's walking - to help break down the stigma, build understanding and make epilepsy less frightening for the people who live with it and those around them 👟

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions, yet so much about it remains misunderstood.

⏰⚡ Only hours to go until the Double Donation Surge ends. Donate now to help support people like Eden via the link in our bio.

For Eleesa, epilepsy is personal. Her daughter Brianna was diagnosed with idiopathic generalised epilepsy at 10 years old, and with her mum and friends also living with epilepsy, she knows just how much the condition can affect the people living with it - and the people who love them 💜

There’s something Eleesa wishes more people understood about epilepsy.

"It’s exhausting. It’s invisible until it’s not. And it can be incredibly isolating."

A seizure in public can be frightening for everyone involved. But with greater awareness and education, we can help people respond with more understanding, less judgement and greater confidence in knowing what to do.

That’s why Eleesa is walking 👟

To raise awareness. To help people better understand epilepsy. And to make sure that when someone has a seizure, the people around them are better equipped to help.

Because knowing what to do can make a real difference 💜

⏰⚡ The Double Donation Surge ends at 11:59pm (AEST) tonight. Donate to help support people like Eleesa and her daughter Brianna via the link in our bio.

⚡👟 The Double Donation Surge is on 👟⚡

For the next 48 hours, every donation to the Epilepsy Foundation and it’s participants will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $79,200, all thanks to our generous sponsors, Nexon Asia Pacific and UCB 💜

That means:
$10 becomes $20
$50 becomes $100
And so on.

Whether you're walking this year or not, the surge is a great way to show your support and make your donation go even further. Every matched donation helps create more moments of support, connection and hope for people living with epilepsy and their families 💜

Now's the time to share your fundraising page, ask for support, and make every donation go twice as far.

⏰ But don't wait - the Surge ends at 11:59pm on 15 October - or earlier if our matched total is reached.

Keep an eye on our social media for updates and to be notified when our matched total has been achieved.

Double the day. Double the donation. Double the impact.

Donate now via the link in our bio.

Footy players know what it means to show up for their team 🏈 This October, we’re asking Australians to show up for people impacted by epilepsy 👟

North Melbourne’s Jy Simpkin is lending his support to Walk for Epilepsy 2026, and we’re stoked to have him helping us get behind a cause that affects so many Australians.

It's about more than getting your steps in. It’s about raising funds for the support, education and services that help people living with epilepsy navigate life beyond their seizures.

Because everyone deserves the chance to focus on the moments that matter most 💜

Want to help make those moments possible? Head to the link in our bio to register or donate.

Thanks for your support, Jy 🤝

Claudia was just 18 when she was diagnosed with epilepsy at the end of 2024. Now, she experiences tonic-clonic seizures every couple of days.

But she wants people to see beyond her seizures 💜

Claudia wants people to know that epilepsy is nothing to be ashamed of, and no one should feel they have to hide their diagnosis out of fear of how others might react. Epilepsy can be scary to navigate, but no one should have to do it alone.

For Claudia, Walk for Epilepsy is about showing the world that epilepsy doesn’t define who you are or what you can achieve 👟

She wants to go to university, build a successful career and help create a future where people with epilepsy aren’t overlooked or discriminated against in the workplace.

She’s walking to raise awareness, open up conversations and show others living with epilepsy that their dreams are still within reach.

“I’m still a real person who can do things, not just a girl who has seizures.”

That’s the message Claudia wants the world to hear.

A big shoutout to North Melbourne’s Paul Curtis for backing Walk for Epilepsy 2026 👟🏈

This October, we’re moving for the moments that matter - and we’re grateful to have Paul in our corner, helping us raise awareness of epilepsy and the impact it has on Australians and their families 💜

At the Epilepsy Foundation, we want people living with epilepsy to have the support, knowledge and opportunities they need to lead their best lives. That’s what Walk for Epilepsy is all about.

Every step, every conversation, and every dollar raised helps us get closer to that goal.

Move for the Moments. Help us make more possible.

There’s still time to get behind Walk for Epilepsy 2026. Head to the link in our bio to register or donate.

Thanks, Paul, for helping us get the word out 🤝
