Sydney Road Thrift Mission #1: Thrift an outfit for under $30.

Angela will be bringing us 5 thrift missions, taking on the first mission on World Op Shop Day, 17 October! She’ll be taking along the Sydney Road Brunswick precinct’s recently updated Secondhand and Vintage Guide to navigate Sydney Road’s famous Op Shopping Trail. 💬 “Why couldn’t it be one of us? We’d take that suffering away in a heartbeat.”

For Ballarat mum and Epilepsy Foundation Nurse/Educator, Gretel Johns, seeing her daughter experience a tonic-clonic seizure was a moment she’ll never forget.

Despite having years of nursing experience, Gretel says she knew relatively little about epilepsy before her daughter’s diagnosis. Her daughter was eventually diagnosed with sunflower syndrome, a rare form of photosensitive epilepsy.

Her story is a reminder that epilepsy can affect anyone - and that understanding, awareness and access to the right support can make a real difference.

That’s why having epilepsy support closer to home matters.

Our new Ballarat Op Shop in Wendouree is more than a place to find your next great thrift. It’s also a place to connect with the Epilepsy Foundation, learn more about epilepsy and help raise funds for our free support services.

Because every op shop purchase helps us provide support, information and services to people living with epilepsy and their families - wherever they live.

💜 Seddon showed up for epilepsy 👟

Last week, community members came together with our Seddon Op Shop staff and volunteers to walk the streets of Seddon, show their support and help raise awareness of epilepsy.

No shopping required. Just comfy shoes, good company and a whole lot of community spirit... Okay, maybe there was some shopping 😉
