Been loving this move. Feels so good.

1 red spring, 1 blue spring — give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Tip, as you hing into the twist, use the resistance along with your inhale to control the rotation, be one with the reformer 😜 … let the arm that is holding the strap lengthen a bit — let your lats and your triceps lengthen before you activate and pull. 👍 by @eso_transform_within

Happy Holidays!!

Yesterday I sent out my final newsletter for 2025 on Substack — what brings me joy, what I’m opting in and out of this holiday season… baking Greek treats with my mom and niece was my highlight. 🥰 @alexissyrengelas @yiayia_champ

On the subject of Substack, thinking about starting live classes again in the new year, stay tuned!

Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁 by @eso_transform_within

One of my favorites, CHAIR TWISTS. 🙌

It’s crucial to create space in your rib cage, spinal extensors, and chest. This pose hits all three and has multiple options for variations — I love it. 😍

And while it doesn’t look fancy, this move will make you sweat (and make you sore).

PS… yoga chairs aren’t for people with limited strength and mobility ONLY, they are excellent props for ALL. by @eso_transform_within

Trying news things is fun, but it also can be a HUGE challenge.

This book has been tough. I’ve really had to dig deep. Not only to simply sit and write, but to go through my story, again and again and again, revisiting pain, fear, frustration, triumph, love, loss, hope, and so much more — it’s been a journey!! 😅

But thanks to my people, I’ve been able to “keep on, keepin’ on” and my efforts are finally starting to take shape.

Daily, I remind myself it’s not about the outcome, but all about the process — which has been super cathartic, though deeply challenging at times.

BUT, we can do hard things, especially with the help from our people.

And, I’m doing it. One page at a time.

Thank you to all of you that keep cheering me on, the finish line doesn’t feel so far away now. 🫶

This “advanced” move is super challenging. Requires plenty of warm up and time on the equipment and within your body to achieve. It’s so fun teaching all types of movers — some days I work with more injuries, other days we refine movement, depending on how each client feels that day. @krutter406 😉🫶 by @eso_transform_within

Never ever underestimate the power of repetition. 🔁

No need to get “fancier” with your moves when there is still so much depth to be found in the basics — that aren’t so basic, after all. 😉

Trying my best to recreate an extended angle pose (Utthita Pārśvakoṇāsana) variation I did with my Iyengar teacher, only I don’t have a horse 😣. This worked pretty good though.

Grabbing hold with the arms to help traction my body while pushing strongly into my back heel.

The push-pull feeling is amazing. My rib cage had an excellent opportunity to open while my legs WORK. 😅 by @eso_transform_within

The upper body — shoulders, chest, arms, shoulder blades, etc., can be super tricky to learn and definitely takes a lot of time and practice.

We have a lot of bad habits and daily movement patterns that work against the proper motion. This needs active attention to improve.

@_solwellness has such amazing body awareness she is able to connect in the tiniest of ways that have profound impacts.
She is fluent in the language of her body and it shows. And as you know, fluency takes time, Stacey clearly puts the time in.

This might not seem challenging, but there is a lot more going on here than meets the eye and the video 😉 … but I love how beautifully Stacey demonstrates the play between the shoulder blade, lats, and triceps amongst other details that we’ll save for another time.

Contrary to what’s understood, when your arm begins to go above shoulder height and up by the ear the shoulder blade needs to glide — not “pull down”. When coming back to shoulder height or below, the shoulder blade glides back down to put it is simply as possible.

If you’re unsure about this, ask your teacher before or after class to take a minute to talk through it with you. For the health of your shoulders, it’s so important to understand. 🫶🫶🫶

Feels. So. Good.

Who else could use a little opening?! (aka stretch)

I don’t have not one single client, not even my super-duper mobile ones, that do not need proper opening.

Creating space in your body, actively, is like medicine for your body. Nothing better.

PROPS ✅

Using tools in the studio to help clients is my favorite. I love to find creative ways to amplify a “simple” movement by fine tuning alignment.

Adding in the pole for stability gave @j9leadingsolutions the smidge of support that she needed to really use both sides of her body and feel the burn 🔥💜

Challenging your clients isn’t always about more weight or harder moves — this slight shift in Janine’s body weight moved this exercise out of her dominant side giving her other side an opportunity to join in.

What are some of your favorite props or tools?!

Foot 🦶 Work is so important, especially as we age.

Maintaining mobility in your feet and ankles is key to not only walk with more ease and balance, but also to prevent falling. We all know that falls at an older age can be pretty serious. 😣 … simple things like foot work or standing calf raises are a perfect way to start.

After only 3 sessions my dad has made progress!

This video is sped up a bit, remember, this stuff takes time and patients. Move slowly and stick with your client (or yourself), before you know their(your) ankles and feet will be so much better! ☺️
