A photo story from my VIS 201 class last semester: Final Project

For this project I was assigned to create a short documentary style photo story. For my project I decided to tell the story of Christmas in Montrose. This event takes place every December in the small town of Montrose, Pennsylvania. This allows local businesses to show off all that they have to offer and compete in a store front decorating contest. It is a very fun weekend for the community as well as the many tourists it attracts, filled with joy, family and friends, and holiday spirit! I highly recommend checkin it out if you get the chance! *Not for use without consent taken in Montrose, Pennsylvania by @evam.photos

A photo story from my VIS 201 class last semester: Out of the comfort zone - a photo story on someone I don't know.

For this project I was assigned to go beyond my comfort zone and create a photo story featuring someone I did not already know. My subject was nurse Diane (pictured in the first photo), she kindly allowed me to follow her around on a slow day at the hospital she works at. She showed me what a typical day looks like for her, she demonstrated physical therapy techniques, introduced me to her co-workers, showed me around the surgical floor, and more. Thank you, Nurse Diane and all of the other heroes that work in healthcare, for all that you do. *Not for use without consent by @evam.photos

A photo story from my VIS 201 class last semester: Tell us about a person without showing the person.

I decided to focus this assignment on my grandpa, William “Bill” Beeman, or as I call him, Papa. He is a retired dairy farmer that spends most of his time out in his shop tinkering and fixing things. He was a farmer most of my life and a lot of his things still show that. I thought his items could tell a compelling story and most importantly tell you about him as a person. He grew up in the house that he currently lives in with my grandma, when his father decided to retire he took over the family farm and worked it until only a few years ago when he retired. Not only was he a full time farmer, but he was also the Chairman and President of DairyLea which he then led through a merger with DFA (Dairy Farmers of America), the current largest dairy cooperative in the US. He has done some incredible things in his lifetime but he still lives a normal life like the rest of us. This may just be a small snapshot into his life, but my grandpa is the kindest, humblest, and most generous person I know, and I am proud to be his granddaughter. I hope this can show you a little bit about him. *Not for use without consent taken in Syracuse, New York by @evam.photos
