POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Marrakech is often remembered for what it shows you. But its real story is found in what it asks you to notice.

The streets before the crowds arrive. The rhythm of a cart rolling over centuries-old stone. The quiet devotion inside sacred spaces. The hands of artisans preserving knowledge that has never needed a textbook.

And as daylight fades, Jemaa el-Fnaa transforms once more, reminding us that every city carries many versions of itself.

Legacy is not only written in books. Sometimes it is written into streets, rituals, craftsmanship, and the lives of people who quietly carry history forward every single day.

This is our interpretation of Marrakech.

Featured in Issue 15: Written Legacy, this film is an invitation to slow down, look closer, and discover the stories that reveal themselves only to those willing to walk a little further.

A travel feature by Fifty Four Magazine. Video curated for @fiftyfourmag by @expeditionhubert.

Nairobi, there is nowhere else like you. A city where the wild and the metropolitan share the same postcode, where lions breathe within reach of traffic lights, & ambition rises alongside the dawn.

You do not perform for the outsider, or soften yourself to be understood. You arrive as you are: elegant, restless, generous, contradictory, & entirely your own.

You received us fully. At @cultivakenya, you fed us philosophy as much as food, soil to plate in footsteps, not supply chains. With @angie.owiti, you showed us futures being built by hand and ensuring that the city competes on a global scale. Through @nairobisketch_tour, we understood your history & your streets moved like murals beneath our feet. At @geco.cafe, music folded strangers into the same rhythm. Michael Soi’s canvas at Circle Art Agency held your wit & your honesty.
And above it all, at @hero_nairobi, your lights shimmered like stories still waiting to be told.

To each of you, thank you. You are not backdrops. You are the city itself.

We will answer not with gratitude alone, but with pages made carefully enough to honour what you trusted us with. Thank you for treating us like family and reviving us with open hearts.

Nairobi, you are not emerging.
You have arrived.

@nomadicrasta, all this would not be possible without you. Your love for Nairobi made it feel like home.

Issue 14 COMING SOON!

Looking back, its been one interesting ride - as I prayed this dawn my eyes were filled with tears, cus the Lord has been very gracious towards me, regardless of all I have been through, my downs and ups, good moments, sad moments, it all turns out good!

I feel grateful! And the these words from @tunde_onakoya resonated so much to me and my work!

Grateful to everyone I have met on this journey of life!

Zanzibar Pizza at Forodhani Gardens, Stone Town đŸ‡č🇿

Zanzibar pizza is one of the island’s most famous street foods, found at the lively Forodhani Gardens night market.

Despite its name, it isn’t traditional Italian pizza. It’s made by stretching thin wheat dough, filling it with ingredients such as minced meat, egg, onion, tomato, and cheese, then folding it into a square parcel and frying it on a hot griddle until golden. by @expeditionhubert

I filmed this story from last year, uploaded it a couple of months ago.

I went to Nairobi to understand how people live, work, and get by in one of East Africa’s biggest cities.

I spoke to a poultry farmer, a visual artist dealing with the cost of rent, a tech founder building in the city, and a Ghanaian making a life for himself far from home.

Their stories gave me a different perspective on Nairobi, beyond the usual travel stories we see online.

The film has now reached 44,000 views on YouTube, and I’m glad these stories are finding an audience.

Nakupenda Sandbank is a beautiful stretch of white sand surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, located off the coast of Stone Town in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Its name, Nakupenda, means “I love you” in Swahili.

The sandbank is a popular destination for boat trips, swimming, snorkelling, and enjoying freshly prepared seafood.

Interestingly, it is a temporary sandbank that becomes more visible during low tide and can disappear beneath the water as the tide rises, making each visit a unique experience. by @expeditionhubert

Located in Zanzibar, Jozani Forest is a beautiful stretch of tropical forest and part of Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park. It is best known as the home of the Zanzibar red colobus monkey, a rare species found naturally only on this island.

With their distinctive black, white and reddish-brown coats, these monkeys move freely through the trees, offering visitors a chance to observe them in their natural habitat.

Beyond the monkeys, the forest is rich in biodiversity, with unique plants, wildlife and mangrove ecosystems that make it an important part of Zanzibar’s natural heritage. by @expeditionhubert

The Swahili dhow has been part of East Africa’s coastal life for centuries. These traditional sailing vessels date back over a thousand years, connecting the Swahili coast with Arabia, Persia, India, and beyond through Indian Ocean trade.

Originally powered by the wind and fitted with distinctive triangular sails, dhows carried goods such as spices, ivory, timber, and textiles across the ocean. They helped shape the Swahili culture itself, bringing together African, Arab, and Asian influences through centuries of trade, migration, and cultural exchange.

Today, dhows remain an important part of coastal heritage in places like Zanzibar, Kenya, and Tanzania. While many are now used for fishing, transport, and sunset cruises, they remain a living reminder of the Indian Ocean’s rich maritime history. by @expeditionhubert

We spent time in a Swahili home learning to prepare chapati, coconut stew, and pilau. What began as a cooking experience became a lesson in history.

Swahili cuisine reflects centuries of interaction between African communities and the wider Indian Ocean world, with influences from South Asia and beyond.

Over time, these traditions blended with local ingredients and cooking methods to create a food culture uniquely rooted in the Swahili coast. taken in Zanzibar, Tanzania by @expeditionhubert

Story Coming Soon.

When you hear the name Zanzibar, what comes to mind?
For some people, it’s the beaches. For others, it’s the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, the resorts, and the idea of an island getaway.
But Zanzibar has a story that stretches far beyond its coastline.
For centuries, this archipelago off the coast of East Africa has been a meeting point for people, cultures, and trade routes connecting Africa to the wider Indian Ocean world.
Its history is one of cultural exchange, economic ambition, and extraordinary human movement. It’s also a history marked by slavery, exploitation, and the struggle for political independence.
I wanted to understand some of that history, but I also wanted to experience the culture that exists today.
So, I travelled through Zanzibar, exploring its historic streets, learning about its agricultural heritage, getting closer to its natural environment, and spending time discovering the food and traditions of the Swahili coast.
This wasn’t simply about seeing a new place.
It was about understanding what makes it what it is.
And to do that, I had to start with a question.
What exactly is Zanzibar, and how does it fit into the larger story of Tanzania? taken in Zanzibar, Tanzania by @expeditionhubert

... THE MUSAFIR ...

Dhows once crossed the Swahili coast carrying people, goods and stories between distant shores. Today, Musafir holds a different kind of gathering.

This is the team behind Musafir. The hands that prepare, the smiles that welcome, and the people who make every evening on Mida Creek feel as though you’ve been expected all along.

This is Musafir and these are the men and women who shape her.
