Understanding what motherhood means to me will be a lifelong discovery. Creating this day for myself was a pivotal part of uncovering a layer I didn’t realize I had already come to embody. Never stop surprising yourself.

The algorithm suggested the picture and the song and because I love both (myself and 2Pac, of course) I’ll give credit where credit is due.

Now that I’ve got your attention, today marks three years of especially brutal reality for the people in G@z@. That we have collectively let this terror unfold is a stain on all our souls.

I’m proud of myself for speaking out over the past three years but I’m also ashamed I kept my silence in ways and in places when I should have been braver and less scared. While it’s easy to say “I’m only human, you did what you could,” every life k!led in G@z@ was a fellow human. Every child that should have outlived me, I grieve for and pray for forgiveness.

How I will explain myself to my children when they ask what happened and why, why I didn’t speak up more or more loudly, I don’t quite know. But at least I’ll have an ounce of peace on my heart knowing my conscience is clear and will keep remembering.

Last Saturday I had a great time meeting with the @CareerACTivate cohort during their MasterMind weekend, courtesy of an invitation from rockstar hyphenate @fa_me.

Our Q&A discussion about creative journeys through the lens of kindness was uplifting and energizing – I’m so glad to know these awesome people!

Tomorrow I’m going to be in conversation with the talented and inspiring cohort of @CareerACTivate’s Mastermind Weekend.

We’ll be discussing how to stay top of mind with industry contacts, in a way that comes from a place of generosity.

Thank you @fa_me and @careeractivate for the invite - looking forward to meeting this community of actors and creatives!
