Two club captains. One quarter-final. Clifton 4th Beach, Nov 2025.

Tanner Gorille (Clifton) and Jordan Minter (False Bay) went stride for stride in one of the closest finishes of the day. Tanner edged the line in the quarter-final, but the story wasn’t over. Jordan fought through the remaining rounds to finish fourth overall in the final. 🔥

Rivalries like this are what make beach sprints sooooo good to watch.

Open Men’s Flags Race | Milnerton

With 52 athletes lining up, the Open Men’s Flags was a battle royale! Jalaaludeen Samuels dived to victory, followed by Jordan Minter in second. Zane Briesies, Zakariyyaa Abrahams, and Jonah Busch claimed third through fifth.

10 years ago we made history!

I felt unstoppable, we were fast and powerful and we wanted to take over the world!

Can you believe these brown boys from the cape flats representing @falsebayslc did exactly that! We sacrificed it all, we made a statement to the world and we achieved history while doing it!

2016 we proved to ourselves dreams are truly possible if you willing to show up and chase them.
From the countless days of sacrifice, the community that helped us get there, the early mornings and late nights, the struggles and challenges along the way. Thats what made it worth everything. That's what makes this victory so much more special. That's what made it become a dream that we will never forget!

Thank you gents for being by my side while we made history!
Here's to never giving up on our dreams!

The famous soft sand of Clifton, where a simple 90m sprint feels like a 200m, was no match for local Samuel Booysen.

It was a Clifton 1-2-3 in this race, with teammates Jalaaludeen Samuels and Tyler Ernstzen rounding out the pack. All the hours spent training in soft sand paid off. Samuel starts his season with a win, and a serious campaign to retain his title as Open Mens Beach Sprint Champion, replicating last season’s results. Will anyone catch Samuel this season? The next sprint event takes place at Fish Hoek on 7 Feb 2026.

⚡New kid on the block shook up the Men’s Flags Arena!

In a thrilling Battle of the Bays, Young Joshua Chown from Fish Hoek took on some of the country’s top flags athletes and came out on top. In his first Flags performance in the Open division, he made sure every dive, every sprint, every split-second decision mattered.

What a pre-season performance! We can wait to see the summer series unfold!

Faster, tougher, and straight out of the Cape. 🌊
This is the 2KM Beach Run from Battle of the Bays.

The Atlantic dominated across both divisions, with @llandudno.lifesaving , @cliftonsurflifesaving , and @milnertonlifesaving showing serious long-run strength. 💪

Battle of the Bays 2025 = What. A. Day. 🌊🔥

From board battles and beach sprints to the chaos of the surf dash — Battle of the Bays had it all. 107 athletes lined up at Muizenberg Beach, representing Atlantic vs False Bay, and the competition did not disappoint.

Onshore winds, warm water, and plenty of heart. 💪
We saw new faces, world-class talent, and a community coming together to kick off the season in true lifesaving style.

Massive respect to everyone who raced, supported, and volunteered — you made this one for the books. 🙌

WHY WE LOVE LIFESAVING | FALSE BAY

“I love lifesaving because I enjoy swimming long distances. It’s made me fitter in both swimming and running, and led me to become a junior lifeguard at my club. Lifesaving has given me a sense of purpose, an all-round experience on the beach and in the water, and a chance to help build something with my club.”

For them, lifesaving is about fitness, purpose, and being part of a supportive community.
