Growth is exciting, but doing the right thing is what sustains it.

At The Founders’ Meet, themed “The Cost of Scale,” @iam.fop Executive Chairman & Founder of The @phillips_consulting challenged business owners to remember that growth comes with responsibility.

His message was simple but powerful: do the right things, even when they are difficult. Build your business on the right foundations, make decisions with integrity, and stay committed to what is right as you scale.

He also remarked the advent of AI as a good tool which had helped to redefine strategies for business owners.

He also added that business owners should pay attention to institutional building because sustainable growth isn’t just about how big your business becomes. It’s about how well you build it.

Here’s a look at some key moments from @iam.fop session. 🎥

What’s one “right thing” every business owner should never compromise on? Tell us in the comment!

“Global excellence begins when excellence becomes your regular system.”

That was one of the key messages from the first keynote session at the 11th FATE Business Conference.

Segun Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), explained what it really takes for Nigerian businesses to move beyond local markets and compete globally.

With the conference theme, “Beyond Borders: Transforming MSMEs for Global Competitiveness,” the conversation highlighted a simple but critical reality: going global is not just about entering new markets. It is about building a business that is ready to meet global standards.

Some of the key takeaways from the session:

• Keep your books like someone will buy your business: Strong financial records are fundamental to building a credible, scalable business.
• Use technology deliberately: Technology should solve real business problems and strengthen how the business operates.
• Build your brand intentionally: Your brand is your promise to your stakeholders, and quality is what keeps customers coming back.

Nigeria is well positioned to serve the world. But unlocking that opportunity requires MSMEs to think beyond expansion and focus on building businesses that can consistently meet the expectations of global markets.

For Nigerian MSMEs looking to go global, which of these areas requires the most attention today: quality, people, systems, finance, technology, or brand?

Share your thoughts in the comments.

Bringing together four institutions, the Africa AI Upskilling Workshop in Ghana was a space for learning, collaboration and practical exploration. 🇬🇭

Across engaging sessions, educators and AI Champions explored practical ways to understand, teach and apply AI in higher education, using the Google DeepMind Curriculum.

From hands-on learning to conversations around responsible AI, the workshop created space for participants to ask questions, share experiences and consider what meaningful AI adoption can look like within their institutions.

The mandate is to build an AI-ready Africa by equipping the people who will use it, teach it and shape what comes next.

Nigeria was the first stop. Ghana, we’re glad to have you on board.

The ship now sails to Kenya!
