Hey friends and all,

I am announcing the release of my second album, ‘The World Is Dark, but I Want It to Be Funny’ out on November 6th. Today, the first single, “Changing”, is released; and you are also able to pre-order the vinyl via Bandcamp. Super cool hot pink vinyl.

This album started coming into the universe back in 2022, so it has naturally been around for a lot of different moods and feelings. I love it so much, and am grateful for all it has helped me to be. I want to thank @ashlawnrecordingcompany for engineering, producing, mixing (and some synth!). And @wsorchardonbike for bass (and for taking the cover photo!), @norameiermusic for gorgeous rainbow bgvs, @quivering_twig for percussion, and @crookedacremastering for mastering, duh. @foxtooth created the most beautiful design on the inner sleeve (the first lyric from 'changing' <3) And always, always thank you to @felte_label & @aparias .

And super extra special thank to @emilyhiines & @constant_smiles who have features on the record :') but you'll hear that later!! by @felte_label

"Louisiana Song" is out today, and this one is about my home state and growing up in a place that feels pretty far away from everything else. It's also about knowing that you can't always return to the thing that you came from.

Episode 72 of the ‘60 Minutes or less’ podcast is now LIVE and it’s off to the natural world we go, featuring an interview with Ben Jones of @constant_smiles!

Jones formed Constant Smiles in 2009 whilst he was living in Martha’s Vineyard - an island off the southern coast of Cape Cod - both of which sound like made up American place names from Nora Ephron films.

Based out of New York, in their time together, Constant Smiles has had varying lineups and put out many records, including a number of releases on @sacredbones. In November 2025, Constant Smiles released latest album ‘Moonflowers’, their debut for @felte_label.

I caught up with Ben over Zoom in April 2026 from his place in New York. It came not long after a UK tour, with the lineup including players from friends of the podcast, @m0dernnature. We spoke about the tour and the new record, as well as gardening, ghost stories and working on new material.
