Dublin Marathon 2026 and a side of Storm Boela.
The rain hit yesterday all day , luckily only rained during the middle of the race today for me for about 40mins. It was cold and very windy ! My ball 🧢 didn’t last long. Running into a headwind seems pointless at times but the funnest experience is the side gusts which make you think you have been shoved by someone beside you 😝. Crowd support was amazing all day . This is the 3rd largest city marathon in Europe with 22.5k participants. A lot of people running their umpteenth Dublin marathon (number 4 for me) and a lot of 1st timers 👏. This is a huge day for charities with a lot of people raising money for good causes 💗. It was great to see my sister @sarah__0207 and family around 35k and another friend found me twice on course 👏. The real feel was 0 when the sun wasn’t shining so I made a quick exit home and of course once warmed up, I had ice cream 🍨😜😮😂 by @fliss08

Quick stop in Dublin after a very busy 4 weeks traversing the globe 🌎 Great to catch up with family and friends 😍 by @fliss08

Short story, 7th star 🌟 secured! This course is challenging but beautiful sights and great support!
Long story, I picked up a bug/flu and chesty 😷 I had chills and wore my hoodie for a couple of kms. I really didn’t feel like doing this today , it was hard to breathe and a long day. I will be honest and say I thought about dropping out but saw a sign that said “forward is a pace”. I dragged myself around and am back in bed with a sore throat . But I do see Aussie 🍻 in my near future 🏃‍♀️we can all do hard things and when feeling better I will be able@to@really appreciate a great day 😁 by @fliss08

Busy weekend for all @challenge.quebec #funtimeswithfriends😍❤️ by @fliss08

Sporting life 10k, this was my 1st race in Canada 6 weeks after I arrived in 2011. It was an annual staple every year until covid and until today I hadn’t been back since but what a great day to return ! Cold but beautifully sunny and I got to do it with my always up for a race friends 😜 @seanmlangley @healtoronto @kcarlin123 and the Sherpa Boss @fungrrrl . See you all next year !?😜🥳 #sl10k by @fliss08

Chilly half Marathon ✅. I used to do this every year but last one was March 2020 a week or so before the world closed down! So it was due ! I think this was the coldest edition of this I have done -8c (real feel -15) and it had snowed overnight 🥶. But the sun shone today which always makes everything 💯 better . Met up with @seanmlangley and @healtoronto pre run 🏃‍♀️, hadn’t seen them since September 😱 as I mentioned it was cold and the wind cut through you , a new experience as a result was the water in the cups were frozen , you had to crack the cup to break the ice and then the water went all over your face when you drank 😂. 4000 brave souls took part today and it was a fun experience as usual , roll on 2027! @kcarlin123 you were missed but as you ran Tokyo today, we will give you a pass 😜 by @fliss08

Well Shanghai you were a treat! This was a late spur of the moment decision to do the Candidate major Shanghai marathon.
East side of the city is old and the west very futuristic, full of brights lights . We loved walking along the Bund on the east and taking a cruise on the Huangpu river to see the bright lights of the new west side (developed since 1996) this city is definitely more tech advanced than my world.
The race day itself was one of the best races I have participated in. I could walk from my hotel but there were subways nearby. Each street led to a coral and to enter that street , your face was scanned to make sure you were in the correct area. If red result, you were redirected (no corral jumping) . It was an easy stroll into the corral on the Bund , with no crowding . The race started on time as did each corral. The 1st few kms took us along the very scenic Bund and onto the Naijang pedestrian shopping street. The route took alot of twists and turns to give you a full glimpse of the city and its architecture. The crowds were loud and plentiful 📣. As usual I brought the heat 😓 🥵 The race finishes at the Shanghai stadium and is so well controlled . You finish you receive a Shanghai marathon finisher towel, next stop of sliders so you can take those runners off finally (and many wearing them at the airport today ).Next is food bag and finisher Tshirt . (We also got a race T at Bib pickup. Then out the other side where you could sit and relax or head straight into the subway . (Subway ticket provided for all athletes) . I was back at my hotel about 45 mins after finishing.
I can’t say enough good things about this race and it will soon be a major !
I will also rave about Shanghai which was big, small, beautiful, historic, futuristic.
I’m very lucky to have such adventures 😀
