Bounce Off The Page with @seamusheaneycentre and @universityofatypical was such an interesting experiment

I went in quite skeptical as I've never written a script really ever, but hopeful that if I got anything out of it that it would be a success

That being said, I got something out of it – a short script I've titled Vessel about disability, language, and what happens when you lose a part of yourself. Beyond this, I had a lovely and slightly stressful time expanding my practice, meeting new people, and exploring new horizons.

Thank you to my fellow writers for sharing your work and space with me and for not letting me get too caught up in my own imposter syndrome. You're all so unbelievably talented, I'm in awe.

Thank you also to the wonderful actors who brought this script to life. It was such a surreal experience to hear my words not in my own voice and to see the characters and scene come to life through other people. It wouldnt be possible without you all.

Thank you especially to our facilitators @creativedarcey and @clareaduffy for their kind words, guiding questions, patience and faith that something would emerge. It did and I'm very proud. There literally would be nothing without you.

I want to take this piece further but have no clue what that looks like. Watch this space, I suppose? by @flo.raldisaster

ADQOM is hitting the road!

We're going to Letterkenny as a part of @lastafestival at @angrianantheatre. Lasta Festival is all about art by young people for young people, so come along and use your voice, be it for music, comedy, poetry, drama, or the non-verbal arts of dance and movement.

I will be doing my best to fill the big shoes left by the almighty Marty McKenna @exquestation as the new host of the “Invited to the Mic” open mic at @theamericanbarsailortown

Extremely grateful for this opportunity and I simply cannot wait to have the craic with you all. Sharing poetry and telling stories are corner stones of Irish culture and it is going to be such a pleasure to host evenings that preserve this.

Thank you so much to @therainbowprojectni for having QWC as part of the PeacePlus Training Conference -- what a fabulous day!

I realise now I never introduced myself properly on here.

I'm Alex and I organise the group, make the posts, show up to the events, and generally just make things work. I'm trans, queer, disabled, and primarily a poet, though I'll write anything that comes to me! You can find me at @flo.raldisaster

I started this group from a deep need for lgbt+ creative spaces in the city like those that exist in larger cities (e.g. belfast, dublin, london) and also out of frustration at the, at the time, constant model of queer events popping up during pride and dying once pride was over. I wanted something long term and tailored to our needs. I wanted something real.

In September, it will be 2 years since we moved to our home in @voidartcentre which also coincides with me turning 25. Something about that feels very special, and I hope both milestones bring something lovely.

With that being said, uppa queers and uppa artists. We need more spaces that include us as we are, not expecting us to leave our nuances at the door, not accepting unfair treatment, but allowing us to organise together, share our work and share our experiences.

If you ever have any questions about our group, feel free to comment or DM. QWC is my joy, so I'm always thrilled to talk about it.

P.S. our graphics and posters are done by @_riotsteel who is amazing. If ever there's a delay in our monthly post, its b/c Ri works full time and I have brain fog so I can forget to message him for our update. by @flo.raldisaster
