Admin Night
Mit Dr. Johann Ahn, Felix Deiters, Alice Morey

29. Oktober 2026
18–21 Uhr (Einlass 17.30 Uhr)

Long Distance Lick (2026)
glazed ceramics

„Online and (…) meters away from you“ and similar lines ask readers/consumers/lovers to imagine the possibilities through their literal proximity, evoke lust, fear and spacial reckonings. If you fantasise about licking your wall at the same time as your neighbour, does it constitute a kiss?
For the inauguration of Walnut Well two ceramic tounges bridge the longest possible distance at the entrance of the space by reaching for each other. A gesture of exploration becomes appropriation of space, becomes the question who makes a room, a wall and its histories.

„Knochen II“ (Top Tools), 2026

15,5 x 5,5 x 1,3 cm

Felix Deiters work investigates the field spanning between the gendered body, the medical and vulnerability and their interplay with structural power dynamics. This artistic research is informed by his lived experiences as a trans person and expressed in his conceptual works in the fields of sculpture, installation, and text.
For Healing, he shows three sculptures from the seven-part series Top Tools (2026): Two broken wrenches—colloquially referred to as “Knochen” (bones) in german—allude, on the one hand, to the bodily language of craftmanship terminologies, and, on the other, to the medical gaze on sick and injured bodies as something that needs fixing. Next to this a hammer strikes unsubtly with the relativizing statement “Every girl faints sometimes”, raising the question of whose physical health is systematically prioritized in diagnostic and healing processes.
In contrast, four small ceramic pieces from the Band-Aid Series (since 2023) — a one-of-a-kind edition of
band-aid sculptures that is continually expanding — represent a promise that can be chargedwith personal meaning: long-term healing for (sm)all wounds.

One more from the TOP TOOLS series and the behind the scenes of the ceramic process.

Diva Cup (Top Tools)
2026
glazed ceramic
18,5 x 13 x 5 cm

Shown as part of the show Miss Diagnosis at the fantastic art space, living queer history archive and sapphic bar @last_little_haven in Vienna.

“Miss Diagnosis features two series of works that literally and figuratively asks questions about the limits of resilience, medical misogyny and gaslighting. What tools are afforded to those who want to overcome deeply rooted beliefs about chronic illness or exhaustion under capitalism being imagined, instead of being made invisible?

[…]

The medical vs craftsmanship are both long imprinted by patriarchal rules, and it is not a rare occurrence that disabled, chronically ill and queer & trans people alike are subjected to be viewed through the lens of: How can “we” fix this? In this sense making space for deviant bodies to exist without cure, yet deserving of recognition, support and understanding is an essential part of queer resistance and disability justice alike.” by @flx_dtrs

Another TOP TOOL from my new series first show at my little solo ‘Miss Diagnosis’ at @last_little_haven

Fished out of a canal in the red light district in amsterdam and discarded for me to find, a rusty ambiguity was entered into a line of objects embodying the un- and misdiagnosed, the chronic aches diaregarded by a system built to center white cis male bodies.
To name things directly is to be vulnurable, but this one was inspired by my own bendy bones and the ‘hypermobile Ehlers Dahnlos Syndrome’. A not-even-so-rare type of systemic connective tissue disorder, that tends to go underdiagnosed and underresearched (much less even its rarer variants). One might suggest it having a much higher occurrence in non cis-male and neurodivergent populations might have something to do with that…
In the end I would like to imagine though that these objects go beyond being a symbolic stand-in and rather speak of what is left when faulty pain scales, and diagnostic criteria are not there to measure or compare, yet the persistentence of every lived experience being encoded and colored by simply being in ones body remains.

“TOP TOOLS (2026) encapsulates the side effects of
existing in a body that is not the medically most studied able bodied cis white male, while sticking with one roccuring theme of Deiters’ work: gaslighting. Juxtaposing tools like a wrench, that is colloquially also called bone (Knochen) in german, with ceramic bones, humorously points at similarities between different domains of fixing. The medical vs craftsmanship are both long imprinted by patriarchal rules, and it is not a rare occurrence that disabled, chronically ill and queer & trans people alike are subjected to be viewed through the lens of: How can ‘we’ fix this? In this sense making space for deviant bodies to exist without cure, yet deserving of recognition, support and understanding is an essential part of queer resistance and disability justice alike.” by @flx_dtrs
