I've been uploading pictures of my art for several months, but I haven't introduced myself properly. So, I thought I'd do a quick post to say 'hello'.

I'm Matt Rix, a self-taught artist living on a hillside in rural North Wales. While I have no formal artistic training, I've always enjoyed creative processes and making things with my hands. I grew up in Southern Africa, and I've moved around quite a bit... but the accent is stubborn, and it isn't going anywhere.

I'm a husband and a father to three beautiful children. We are 10 years into the restoration of an old and rather demanding Victorian farmhouse. It's been quite an adventure and, as I'm doing just about everything myself, we still have a long way to go. This place is rough around the edges but beautiful... and I wanted to share a bit of that beauty with you all. It's a rather grey day in this remote part of Denbighshire, but I find it magical here, no matter the weather.

Thank you to each and every one of you for the likes, comments, and support - it means a lot. If you haven't already, please consider following me on the journey that lies ahead. For those who have been following, I hope you've enjoyed the art so far... I'd like to think that the best is yet to come.

On its way to Cape Cod 🐋

This whale and ship fine art print is one of a selection of framed prints making their way to Massachusetts, heading to Karen at @coastal.modern and her carefully curated shop, Gatherings at Home.

With Nantucket just across the water, it feels like a rather fitting destination for this nautical piece.

Each of my framed fine art prints is individually finished in a hand-painted frame, with a collage of antique papers lining the reverse, making every piece unique.

Framed fine art prints are available through my website, with free worldwide delivery.

Thank you, Karen, for choosing my work 🌟

How to Draw Horses

I couldn't resist this old booklet when I spotted it at a car boot sale at the weekend.

The cover alone would have been enough to tempt me, but the illustrations inside are wonderful too. I love the character of these old instructional drawings - the simple lines, handwritten notes and wonderfully direct way of showing how things are put together.

This little whale has found a new home in California.

He'll be making the journey across the Atlantic alongside one of my pigeon paintings, heading off to join a new collection.

Thank you so much to the collector who chose them both 🌟

'Crossing Paths'

Delighted to share that Crossing Paths, currently on exhibition at @sixteengallery, has found a new home 🌟

It's wonderful to know that the painting has resonated with someone visiting the exhibition, and I'm very grateful to the team at 16 Gallery for including my work in this year's Open Call Exhibition.

Thank you to the couple who chose it, and to everyone involved in making the exhibition possible.

One of three paintings chosen by a couple during a visit to @thewhitegallerycotswolds in the Chipping Campden, and now on its way to its new home in the USA.

Thank you, Georgie, for finding homes where my work will be enjoyed 🙏
