POSTS STORIES REELS

⛵️ A camera roll dump - and an Instagram takeover!

Hi I’m Frankie! 👋

I’m Social Media Manager here at @anotherworldadventures - and the person behind our posts and comment replies.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to join Florette, one of the incredible ships we work with, for a week long voyage around the Aeolian Islands!

Over the next 7 days I will be taking over our Instagram stories for a day-by-day recap of the trip.

These photos and videos are just a tiny snapshot of the adventure and I can’t wait to share more with you over the next week.

February’s Prints. 🌸 With the first spring flowers reminding me that seasons change. Things change. Tough times pass. by @frankie_dewar

My first drawings for my next Lino carving 🌱 and the first shoots of spring.

I can’t wait to print her and I think I’m going to write different wording around each one 💛 let me know if you’ve got any ideas for quotes I should write. by @frankie_dewar

Today is the day ✨ I officially become a Masters Student at @weare_lis 🌿

Joining their part time cohort - for the next two years I’ll be studying Interdisciplinary Problems and Methods… wish me luck!

I was attracted to LIS because of how climate and social justice seem embedded in the work they and their students are doing. Because of how open they are to innovate and try different things.

As someone who was home educated I deeply resonate with the openness of their courses to be shaped by student interests.

And feel that the skills of interdisciplinary work are going to be increasingly needed in the unknown future we’re stepping into.

I can’t wait to get started 💛

P.S 📷 from the MOST fun cycle across the @peakdistrictnationalpark with a strong reminder to myself that no matter how busy the next two years get … I still need to make time for this kind of joy 🌞 by @frankie_dewar

I got a lovely surprise today! The Outdoors Fix podcast has been shortlisted for the Independent Podcast Awards @indpodawards 😃🎧

Absolutely buzzing to be shortlisted along with the brilliant @folkonfoot and @everydayadventurepod 👏👏

Well it’s been a little minute hasn’t it 🌱

This year July and August seem to have flown by in a bit of a blur.

Throughout the summer I’ve received the same question again and again….. “how is your garden?”

And well….

I have recorded updates. But in all honesty it’s been a bit of a roller coaster. 🎢

After planting everything I thought I would plant… I felt desperately sad. There was something so soothing about planting and I felt the loss of it being complete more than the joy of transforming the space.

Time out, time away, a wild whirlwind of time meant that the garden didn’t get any love for a good long while. Some plants suffered (turns out I’m not a hanging basket person) some plants ran wild. Some just slowly went about their business growing and turning to the sun - they didn’t need me they knew what to do.

A tipping point happened and all of a sudden and so much joy came back in, I wasn’t planting but I was picking, and collecting seeds, and talking to new budding flowers on a daily basis. There were other reasons to have my hands back covered in soil.

🐞🐛🕷️ and the bugs that have come into the garden I can’t tell you how gorgeous it is to see such a sterile space alive.

I thought I was going to use this post to talk about my life updates - and there are a few. About how determined I’ve been to find joy amongst what has felt like a year of chaos. How magical and hard so many parts of my life have been. About all the things I’ve achieved, and the moments of celebrating the achievements of others.

In many ways it feels like both captions are a reflection of the same 🌻

There’s a quote I’ve had on my wall all year from Robin Wall Kimmerer that has been a lighthouse for me :

“Even a wounded world is feeding us. Even a wounded world holds us, giving us moments of wonder and joy. I choose joy over despair. Not because I have my head in the sand, but because joy is what the earth gives me daily and I must return the gift.”

🌱 It might be a tiny garden 💛 but it is a daily gift and I couldn’t be more filled with gratitude.

1918 - women over the age of 30 who met minimum property qualifications were able to vote.

1928 - All persons over the age of 21

I don’t think I ever visited without her talking about women chaining themselves to railings, going on hunger strike or protesting.

The benefit of not knowing what you’re supposed to do is that you can do whatever you like 🌻🌱

If that’s not a rule to live by idk what is 🌸 by @frankie_dewar

It’s got Big Garden Energy 🥰🌻

I thought I might be able to grow some herbs… and now with strawberries, courgettes, tomatoes, greens, flowers and herbs all started or out growing 🌱 it’s definitely not that tiny after all 💛 by @frankie_dewar

We’ve upgraded from a breadknife 🤷

Social media can make you feel like you have to find “your thing” 🌈💛 this is post is firmly realigning this account to all of the things.

I hope you keep following along for the journey, gardening and hiking will be part of it, but there is so, so much else to share.
