🎟️ Tickets are now on sale for Tremula Festival 2025!! Join me @frantic.tea on 15th September for a day of workshops and talks all about audio and the outdoors. Tremula Festival will help you:

🎧 UPSKILL your audio production

🤝 CONNECT with nature and other audiophiles

💭 CONSIDER ways to incorporate environmental and social activism into your work.

I’ll be starting to announce the programme via our newsletter next week, but there are only 20 tickets on sale for this event, so get in quick if you want to join us.

Tickets start at £70 (and include six sessions, second breakfast, lunch and an excuse to spend time outdoors!)

It will be a great start to your work week (or a perfect excuse for a long weekend) and I’ll be asking the natural forces to give us lovely weather again ☀️ by @frantic.tea

Set your alarms early for a celestial treat.

That's right, tomorrow morning, just before dawn, a partial lunar eclipse will take place that will result in a "blood moon."

The first phase will begin at 3.57am with the UK seeing the maximum of the eclipse at 6.19am.

Before then, we have the latest episode of 'Embrace the Darkness' for you to listen to.

This week's episode was recorded at our Brighton Seafront Star Party on 22 February by the talented, brilliant and trail-blazing @frantic.tea and @kku_sounds from @tremulanetwork

Francesca and Katie took the opportunity to chat to those in attendance, finding out what it is about the night sky that inspires them and why events like the Festival are a great way of connecting more people with their dark night skies.

Listen on Spotify, Apple or wherever you listen to podcasts. Just search 'Embrace the Darkness.'

Remember, if you have a question, comment or suggestion, please email embracethedarkness@southdowns.gov.uk

I’ve been very busy - since October, I’ve been working at the Acting Managing Director of @contentisqueenhq and our team have been working hard on the return of an event that has been very influential on my career.

I want to see you at the International Women’s Podcast Festival next month! Here’s why:

It’s been too long! I haven’t been to a big audio event in a while (except Tremula Festival that is) and I want to catch up!

You’ll learn a lot from:

- All the practical sessions
- Global talks and workshops
- Truly unique panels

It’s worth the cost. Times are tight so we’ve kept ticket prices the same as in 2024. That’s less than:

- I spent in a single day working in London last week (2 coffees, lunch, and a drink after work. You get all these included at the International Women’s Podcast Festival)
-OR a year of [insert generic streaming service of your choice]
- Seriously, it’s even less than Nearly every other audio industry event. (No shade. Okay a little shade.)

You’ll meet new people. I attended the 2022 festival not knowing many people. Now I’m part of the festival team. Where might you be in 2030?

The audio industry needs to change and a lot of the change makers will be in that room on 5th March.

So - International Women’s Podcast Festival 2026 - see you there? Ticket link in bio :D by @frantic.tea

It's just two weeks until Tremula Festival 2025! If you haven't brought your ticket yet, here's 5 reasons we think you should definitely join us in the South Downs on 15th September:

1) As the only podcast event on the calendar that gets you out in nature, it will give you an enourmous sense of wellbeing

2) It's just 20 minutes away from Brighton on the train PLUS only 70 mins from London, and accessible by train. Basically, we're the perfect day trip

3) It's a unique chance to upskill your audio production and listening skills. We've had producers and podcasters of all levels tell us how much they learned last year!

4) Connect with like-minded audio makers! We're a small gathering and you might find your next collaborator over out (FREE) group lunch...

5) We have accessible ticket options, with a unique 'pick-you-value' ticketing system and PWYC tickets. Can't find something that works for you? Do pop a message over, we love to help break down barriers :D

We can't wait to see you at the YHA South Downs and enjoy the wonderful programme we have for you! by @frantic.tea

I am so excited to talk about a new project that we’ve been working on in the background - and shout about the Special Mention it received in the the recent @whickerawards pitches at @sheffdocfest 🥳

‘Keening: The Song Before the Stranding’ will be a podcast series produced by @aoife_glass and executive produced by me as a home-grown Tremula production 🌳

Combining science, music, art and community, Aoife will follow environmental artist @samanthagare and her creative process as she develops a transient artwork in response to the mass stranding of pilot whales on Lewis, which occurred in 2023. The podcast will share the stories of the people the event touched, the wider context of cetacean stranding, and the true heart of the story - the whales themselves.

This is an absolutely beautiful project to work on, and it means so much to me personally to have a special mention for the sound design at Whickers. Working on soundscaping like this is my favourite part of working in audio and I’m excited to do more of it.

Over the past year or so, I’ve really started to feel more confident that I have skills and knowledge of the audio industry, yet when Aoife asked me to be the Exec on this, I did worry I didn’t have ‘executive producer’ credits. But ultimately knew that I was well placed to help with this project — through my freelance production and writing, and also because Tremula is uniquely placed to consider a cross-discipline project like this.

But as a producer with no formal training stepping to an exec role for the first time - it feels *amazing* to have that vote of confidence from both the The Whickers judges and Aoife and Sam!

Here’s to the next stages of Keening: The Song Before the Stranding - the tricky ‘finding the money for R&D’ stage. If anyone wants to help fund this - Whickers-worthy - project, get in touch 🫶🏻 by @frantic.tea

It’s been a busy ol’ time with work, and I thought I would do a content-dump of a few of my favourite pieces I’ve been putting over the last few months (before my feed gets overwhelmed with Tremula Festival content!)

1) Super proud of this article for @contentisqueenhq about ways to make your podcasting greener (not least because I now have another reason to stick to audio-only. Listen to podcasts = saving the world!)

2) I’m now a fully fledged member of the @alltheelements_ team, and am their new Content Person/Officer/Manager ☺️ this is the recent newsletter

3) I actually managed to put out a new @ontheoutsidepod episode with the help @_tk_xo

4) We’ve hit 12 Outdoors Podcast Club sessions! The most recent one is very much tied into where my brain is at and helping podcasters utilise events in podcasting and outdoors ☺️

5) I wrote a recommendation piece for CiQ for ‘podcasts to give you new perspectives this spring’ and it lead to one of my favourite things - @gasbagspod read it, they listened to @hiphopchronicle’s show Unsung and re-recommended, and now Sumit is giving us a new Unsung series. 🫶🏻 by @frantic.tea

*Grid Drop* it’s time for me to catchup with some of the work I’ve been doing (but not all because it’s been quite busy and I’ve basically forgotten some of it!)

1) 2024 is the year of the Summer Podcast Listen! I recommended some good shows for @contentisqueenhq

2) The @iwpodcastawards in June was beautiful as always. I got a little emotional when Naomi introduced me as ‘The Founder of Tremula Network’ rather than being there for someone else 🥲 I got very emotional when I handed @sharingplatepodcast the award - it was very fitting moment for Refugee Week.

3) I’ve been doing some deep dives into the Class Gap in audio. It’s a real issue and one I’ll be exploring more for CiQ

4) Quietly doing some articles for @alltheelements_ and this one was a good reminder to take a break every now and then 🙃

5) I launched Day One tickets for Tremula Festival! It feels really vulnerable having them out in the world 🫣 I got to be honest — giving the support from people beforehand, I had hoped I wouldn’t have to push these tickets quite so much, so please share and if you’re considering coming, get your ticket now! It is such a good line-up! (links in bio)

6 & 7) The @alltheelements_ area @timberfestival was so fab. It was lovely to be involved as part of the team, really great to test out the Podcast Circle - listening and chatting podcasts together - and really, REALLY great to be on stage chatting creative activism with other amazing women 🥰 (That is my foot in the last photo, honest!)

Back to the work, because there is a LOT coming in July, August and of course September!! by @frantic.tea

Thrilled to chat about podcast discoverability with @contentisqueenhq’s Francesca and @pod.vision’s @andreeacoscai … podcast discovery is equally my bane and my mission. We chatted about the difference between marketing & promotion, buzz-building + maintaining consistent-hum, community development, the value and difficulty of reaching diaspora audiences and more. Also, clearly a trip to Romania is in order, dear Andreea! by @frantic.tea

The International Women’s Podcast Festival is just 3 weeks away and this year is going to be 🔥🔥

Yes, really, just 3 weeks! Ticket sales close on 25th February so get on it quick if you want to be in the room for the best podcast event of the year. Those aren’t my words, they are the words of previous attendees…

But if I were to say you need to be at Coin Street on 5th March, that’s also coming from a previous attendee. I pitched to speak at the Festival in 2022. Now I am part of the team running the event, and that’s in large part down to the confidence and connections I found on that day.

Imagine the path you might put yourself on if you come to this year’s festival. Are you ready to invest in that..? #iwpf2026 by @frantic.tea
