This show changed my life. I’m so proud of the work we put into the show, it was a true labor of love and joy.

MEET THE ENSEMBLE!! September 18th, 2025; 7pm at the Forest Meadows Amphitheater in San Rafael, CA.

Alternative Theatre Ensemble (ATE) has partnered with IN THE MARGIN (ITM) to co-produce a night of excerpts of new works from playwrights Lauren Gunderson, R. Réal Vargas Alanis, W. Fran Astorga, Amber Kay Ball, and Drew Woodson. Hosted by Dominican University of California and Marin Shakespeare Company.

Bridging Turtle Island is the culmination of IN THE MARGIN’s pilot residency ITMéxico which launched in July of 2024. ITM’s residency was born in response to the attempts of censorship in the U.S., and ATE is proud to bring the commissioned works to the U.S.!

Supported by the California Arts Council’s Impact Project and the CAC’s Creative Youth Development program, the initiative pairs established professionals with early-career arts workers to hone their craft, build community, and elevate marginalized voices.

If you would like to support this project, feel free to email real@altertheater.org

This ambitious project is supported by our wonderful partners: @marinshakes @berkeleyrep @theatreofyugen @sexiitacos @warrioryogaturlock @matriarchytheatre @bstreettheatre @latinxtheatrecommons @tenatheater @lalenguatheater @calartscouncil taken in Dominican University of California by @fredasaurus.rex
