“There’s not another truck in the driveway”… one week ago today we said goodbye to our beautiful show. I still don’t have the proper words to sum up what this experience meant to me, how it shaped me as an actor, & the way I learned to love deeper because of it. @bcbmccarty & @cygnettheatre - “thank you” will just never be enough to express my true & deep gratitude. To the gorgeous cast, the rockstar crew, the genius creatives, the generous staff, the wildly talented musicians - words simply fail…You are all my heroes! Lastly, @aidenmeyndert playing your mama was the honor of my career. I am SO proud to be Hansens for life! “When it all feels so big, till it all feels so small…” 🩵

Sometimes a character’s lines don’t make it into the final cut. As an independent director, most of times, I never have the luxury of rehearsals, so I often find myself continuing the editing process while we’re still on set with the actors. One of the biggest perks of directing and editing my own projects is that I can keep rewriting the story in post-production. Hollywood teaches that filmmaking follows a certain path(casting, screen tests, table reads) but when you’re an independent filmmaker with limited resources, you learn to adapt and discover your own way of making it work. You can watch the 10-minute short film on YouTube. Link in bio. This film is the opening chapter of a feature-length screenplay I wrote a few years ago. In just 10 minutes, I hope to introduce audiences to Santiago’s journey of rediscovery in the United States in 1999. Synopsis: A 40-year-old Mexican immigrant who has carefully built a life in San Francisco is shaken when an unexpected message forces him to confront the love story he left behind two decades earlier. This coming-of-age queer drama explores how a single message can challenge us to confront the choices we’ve made and the people we’ve become.
