This year I want to share more, more of my wins, more of me simply. I was saying in my last IG live (saved on my feed!) that humility is great unless it's self-sabotage in disguise. 2020 forced me to check myself on that. I'm nervous to share my wins because it's showing off or I got lucky, nervous to share my joy when so many are struggling, nervous to share my pain when so many suffer more, scared to assert myself when people do me wrong because it must be me. Really, I'm keeping myself small, safe (so I think), when my core self clearly came with a powerful purpose and I'm failing at standing in its way so I might as well beam like I've always intended to..🌟 2021 you keep me in check okay, cause it ain't easy 👀 Take RadSwan, it's made of my whole self but it's more than a labour of love, it's the wonderful team we now are that gives it wings, our amazing investors - mentors through the craziest of years to launch a business, our beloved customers, those trusting us as we just get started. We start as an innovative product, but we're so much more, the soon to be leading conscious beauty brand built with, and for the African Diaspora 😎. It's not mine, and it's not about me. The inspiration other girls and women, other black girls and women might have watching my/our journey - it's not my design, we're all these instruments into other people's lives in ways we'll never know. I'm so proud and grateful for the outpouring of love we got from the press in just over a month, I mean, my name in Vogue, Glamour, The Times, etc. How on earth?!? I'm sharing these wins loud and proud now, they're meant to run their divine course, to uplift and inspire others like I benefit everyday from watching the world around me. Stay humble but make sure it's not a trap, leave your comfort zone, we all need your beaming light on our journey, so cast it bright baby and lift us high 🙌🏾 😎✨✨ taken in Sky is the Limit by @freddieharrel

What if you don’t want less? You just want differently? For years, @freddieharrel wanted to not want things. She was burnt out, done with business, social media and the endless pressure to optimise every part of her life. Then the wanting came back - she wanted to build again, create again and be seen again. And she realised the problem was never wanting. It was wanting things that weren’t really hers to begin with. Before going out to celebrate our anniversary, Tom squeezed in a quick surprise activity at home, but absolutely set me up for failure — how do you tell me we're going to paint each other but don’t provide me with white paint?? I know that with the right tools my talents would have truly shone..🙄 Ok..maybe the jaw is problematic.. but the paint would have instantly ironed that out. Yesterday I got to witness @onalajaofficial 's debut at #LondonFashionWeek and it was so exciting! Only back in June, they had a heartbreaking 4-day fire that decimated decades of work, archives, samples etc. Yet they kept going, and yesterday they presented their RE:BIRTH collection and it was absolutely stunning 😍! I can’t fathom what that experience must have been like, but yesterday was just a masterclass in grace, courage and resilience. And as someone rebuilding after losing something I had put a lot of my soul into, I left very inspired, and grateful to witness such a moment! The last time I’ve been to a show was 8 years ago in NY. Fashion Week looks fun but tbh I’ve never really got into it (I also always feel underdressed 😂). But after yesterday, I found a new appreciation for it. Regardless of the clothes or the trends, it’s witnessing the birth of something that feels so special and invigorating ✨ Huge congratulations @kkencoo, I hope you feel super proud! No this one!” One thing I forgot to let you know is that Imma sit with who I wanna sit with irrespective of them being on a press run or having something to sell. And in this weeks episode of Conversations with Candice I’m talking with the incomparable @FreddieHarrel A woman whom I think needs no introduction but let’s have a quick recap - she was your favourite blogger’s, favourite blogger. Her incredible personal style inspired millions across Pinterest. And with her big smile and even bigger hair, Freddie sat at that then brand new intersection of fashion and the digital world becoming one of the most recognisable faces on Beyoncé’s internet. Her own journey with her own hair inspired her to launch RadSwan a business that sold premium synthetic hair products, including clip-in extensions and wigs, which went on to raise 2.3 MILLION DOLLARS in funding (a VERY big deal for a black woman) and it seemed as though Freddie wasn’t just on top of the world but owning it. Until she wasn’t. As more of a fan than a friend, I often thought where is Freddie? Is she ok? What’s going on? I had such a great time last Friday at @allbright ’s Motherhood Works Summit 2026! I sat down with @whatsophieloves who asked me about what motherhood really did to me, what happened that I didn’t expect, what I lost but also what grew in its place. This end of the year will mark 10 years since I became a Maman (those who were there, can you even believe time?? 😳) and next week I’m turning 39! Homestretch until the grown-grown 40s, I'm told we’re wrapping up Season 30! So much to reflect on! The 30s are so transformative that it’s hard to pinpoint what did what, but with everything life threw at me, compounded, I’d say early motherhood is what made me lose control, or rather what made it impossible for me to keep trying to control everything. Trust, surrender and faith filled that newly empty spot, albeit shakily, let's be honest. My confidence, my sense of identity are still very much shaky too. It’s all shaken and shaking, and it’s been the most beautiful reminder that life is made of seasons. 🌸 The planet has had 4 seasons from the very beginning of time and it has never changed its MO (global warming skews that statement but you get the gist). Our lives will always be seasonal. The tech bros, social media and late-stage capitalism cannot erode that fact. You are never falling behind, and I pray that each passing season helps you embody that truth just a little more. I’ve lost the habit of taking photos of my #ootd (truth is my instagram husband has kids now 👀 + other hobbies that aren't me - the absolute gall!!) and I had to rush to a unity march at the kids’ school (how precious is that 🥹?!) but caught this quick snippet! Playsuit with a cape - you dig or nah? It's been buried in my closet for the last 8 years since the first and last time I wore it at @elekima 's wedding 💃🏾; but I got so many compliments, it's coming out all summer! 😎🌞 (cue this reminder that that next fire outfit is already in your closet!) taken in London, United Kingdom by @freddieharrel

When I recently came back online sharing a little on where I’d been, @allbright got in touch almost immediately. What followed is this little piece from yours truly, which felt so cathartic to write, and much like an opportunity for closure with my girlboss journey. I can’t say I don’t feel nervous, or a little embarrassed to share this snapshot of my story — that I’ve struggled with things that seemingly so many people easily get on with. But now I know that 1) capitalism has truly gone haywire 😬 2) this is a part of a rich journey of awakening, of deconditioning, that many of us, mothers and non-mothers, are on; 3) it's not embarrassment, it's grief for the life that would get me all that external validation (my favourite drug🤤). We are so much more than what we think we are, or what we’re told; and there’s divine purpose in every single one of our perceived shortcomings. And how timely that this week is the birthday of my little girl, my own womb-made little riot who bulldozered her way into my life and into all my plans?? 💫💫 So dig in, link’s in my bio.
