Even when photographing a regular corporate event, my reflexes as a war photographer kick in, and I move as if I were back under fire in a conflict zone. 😊

Isaac 0, developed by San Francisco-based Weave Robotics, is a stationary robot designed to fold household laundry.
The robot uses two arms and combines autonomous operation with remote human assistance when needed. It can fold items including T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, pants, shorts, towels, pillowcases, and some linens, typically completing an average load in 30 to 90 minutes.
Isaac 0 is already being deployed in homes and businesses in California, where Weave says its fleet is folding more than 1,000 pounds of laundry each week.

Nile Fahmy of Mind Children Robotics demonstrates Codey at the Silicon Valley Humanoids Summit.
Codey is a three-foot-tall social humanoid robot developed as a prototype for use in human-centered environments such as education, healthcare, and hospitality.
Designed with safety and approachability in mind, Codey communicates through speech, facial expressions, gestures, and eye contact, giving the robot an expressive and playful presence during interactions.
Mind Children says its goal is to develop affordable, mass-producible robots focused on human connection rather than industrial labor.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach on Saturday, October 17, 2026, forming a massive human banner as part of the nationwide “No Kings: Vote Early” day of action.
Unlike earlier No Kings demonstrations that centered primarily on protest, this nationwide event shifted much of its focus toward the November 3 midterm election, encouraging people to register, check their voter status, make a voting plan, and cast their ballots early rather than waiting until Election Day. by @fredericneema

One of the most striking sights on San Francisco’s waterfront is about to disappear. If you haven’t seen the giant female statue at Embarcadero Plaza yet, this is your last chance. It will be gone by the end of the week.
The 45-foot-tall sculpture of a naked woman by Bay Area artist Marco Cochrane is being dismantled after roughly 18 months on the waterfront. The stainless-steel work, originally titled R-Evolution and later renamed I Am, was first created for Burning Man in 2015 and is modeled on Bay Area artist and dancer Deja Solis.
The figure, standing with her eyes closed and palms open, was conceived as a statement about feminine strength, agency, and presence. The sculpture was installed at Embarcadero Plaza in April 2025, where it became one of the most visible public artworks along San Francisco’s waterfront.
Crews began taking it apart on October 12, 2026, ahead of planned redevelopment work in the plaza. After dismantling, the sculpture is expected to return to storage, with its future location still undecided. by @fredericneema

This is my solution for filming vertical and horizontal videos at the same time. It doesn’t work in every situation, but I have to say, I’m pretty impressed by the Insta360 Luna Ultra.

Ilan Zerbib and his team at Sapiom just raised $35 million in a Series A.

Sapiom.ai is an infrastructure layer that gives AI agents access to the outside world, including paid APIs, web search, browsers, compute, databases, storage, and other services, without developers having to set up and manage each individual service themselves.

I met Ilan about 10 years ago at a networking event in San Francisco. He told me about his new startup, Earny, and I immediately thought the idea was brilliant. Earny was an app that helped consumers automatically get money back when the price of something they had purchased dropped, as well as helping them recover other money they were entitled to, such as refunds for delayed flights. I downloaded the app right there during our conversation.

Earny went on to become a successful company and was later acquired, which is a dream outcome for most startups.

What struck me during our conversation with Ilan was something completely unrelated to startups. He told me that he had originally wanted to become a police officer, a gendarme, in France. It was a rather unusual ambition for someone with his background, and I remember it to this day.

Congratulations, Ilan!

Oh, BTW, I am delighted to now have Sapiom as one of my clients :) by @fredericneema
