As always, "Women Know What Works"!

On 26 July from 14.00–19.00, this pre-conference session will bring together a diversity of voices of women living with HIV from around the world, as well as international experts such as:

Pedro Ivo Oliveira - GATE Health Officer - will present at a workshop from Harm Reduction International on “Building sustainability for harm reduction under threat”, focusing on trans and gender diverse communities, sex workers and people who use drugs

The Global Village is a vibrant space where communities, scientists and activists from all over the world connect, share and learn from each other.

What issues are affecting trans and gender diverse people regarding the HIV/AIDS global response?

@aumneko from @acceptesst stated what the statistics and studies confirm: violence and murders against our communities are escalating... especially against migrant sex workers.

@dinahbons from @transunitedeurope and Erika Castellanos from GATE signal that stigma is still one of the biggest struggles and barriers to acceptance, inclusion and respect for diversity.

@danielposada from Trans Talent at @fundaciongaat provides solutions to the problem saying that we need to empower the community and ourselves to fight stigma.

We need to tackle stigma to #EndAIDS!

It is no secret that conservative agendas are mainstreamed in the UN lately.

The Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women and Girls released a report at HRC62 on violence against mothers that reduces women and gender diverse persons to their reproductive capacities.

The report waters down the right to abortion and undermines the agency and autonomy of marginalised communities.

Together, @NSWP, @WHRIN, @GATE and @ICW living with HIV, and AWID delivered a statement with a clear message: bodily autonomy is a non-negotiable and a fundamental right for all.

The right to dignity and self-determination of trans people, sex workers, women who use drugs, and women living HIV must be recognized, protected, and upheld. by @gateorg

Yes, we need to rebuild the HIV / AIDS Global Response in ways that truly reflect the needs, challenges and lived realities of our communities!

Yes, we need to rise up our communities globally, and let the world see the great leaders and experts we are!

From 26 to 30 July, GATE will proudly be at aids_conference in Brazil, to meet with people from all over the world, inform society and bring the best knowledge and expertise to you.

@aids_conference 2026 is right around the corner, and we couldn't be more excited! 🥰

To understand why it is so important to have a trans networking zone, meet us at the Global Village: TRANScend Together: Rethink. Rebuild. Rise! 🏳️‍⚧️

This is a welcoming, trans-focused community hub where we will host interactive sessions, quick skills‑sharing moments, membership spotlights, and community discussions.

For those attending our sessions, we will be offering our amazing merch - last time at AIDS 2024, we ran out of them!

We’ll also host a community gala, including a live performance from the @houseofmambanegra - a Kiki ballroom house and cultural collective based in Brazil.

🎤 Engaging with UN mechanisms can be a frustrating process, but many activists still carve time out of their busy lives to do it.

We asked the team behind #TransAdvocacyWeek why they still think it's worth it! 👀

While it may seem that the processes of progress move incredibly slowly and there are a lot of expectations imposed on us in those spaces, being able to lend our voices to speak out in rooms where decisions are being made is vital for trans rights to progress. 🏳️‍⚧️🤝
