Saturday’s workshop at @artscapetheatre was an encouraging and inspiring session for all the participants. 🙌🏽

Together with our esteemed panelists, we unpacked opportunities for young people beyond the DJ booth — from tapping into commercial radio and internet radio, to livestreaming, content creation, broadcasting, events and the many other pathways that exist within the wider creative industry.

The DJ booth can be the starting point, but it doesn’t have to be the destination. 🎧📻📡

The aim is to broaden the vision, equip young creatives with knowledge and show them that there are multiple ways to build a career around their passion. Big thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to the conversation. 🔥

At GCAP, we believe meaningful change begins with intention.
Whether it’s @sr4a.za our creative projects, youth programmes, educational initiatives or the many collaborations we undertake, our goal remains the same: to create opportunities that unlock potential.

Sometimes it’s about giving young people the knowledge, skills and tools to take their next step. Sometimes it’s creating a space where they can discover a talent, find their voice or see themselves differently. And sometimes, our role is simply to be that spark — the experience, connection or opportunity that makes a young person think, “Maybe I can do this too.”

Our state of mind matters. We approach every project with purpose, creativity and a belief in what young people can become when given the opportunity to explore, participate and lead.

Because potential is everywhere. Sometimes all it needs is a spark.

That is the intention behind GCAP. 🌍✨

Beyond the Club 🎧

Last month, we kicked off our free DJ Workshop at Artscape with an all-hands-on experience — bringing together beginners, experienced DJs and curious minds to explore the craft, from the vinyl experience to today’s DJ technology.

The response reminded us why spaces like this matter: learning together, sharing knowledge and creating opportunities beyond the traditional club environment.

This coming weekend, we’re back for the second installment — and this time, we’re going Beyond the Club.

We’ll explore the many pathways a DJ can take beyond playing in clubs — from education, radio and events to production, content creation, community and entrepreneurship.

And once again, it’s FREE.

Our second DJ Workshop Series at @artscapetheatre is coming up on 29 August 11AM–1PM facilitated by @bbdjacademy

Our last workshop was an all-hands-on affair — taking attendees on a journey from the **vinyl experience to the latest DJ technology facilitated by Beat Bangaz DJ Academy.
This time, we move **Beyond the Club**

Being a DJ today is about so much more than playing in clubs. It can open doors into **education, radio, events, production, content creation, community, entrepreneurship and much more.
For this session, we’re bringing together voices who are actively exploring these different pathways:

Say what 🤯 I love seeing youth win 🙌 My mind always gets blown by natural talent 🤩

We had the pleasure of welcoming the @texpoafrica team from 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe to our @bbdjacademy Tiny Warehouse space.

Six young students are in Cape Town for a technology immersion experience, and through @gcap.za , we’re excited to connect them with our creative and cultural ecosystem.

We had the opportunity to showcase how DJing, live performance and technology come together to create new opportunities for young people.

Exposure matters. Partnerships matter. And creating bridges between education, technology and creativity can help young people see what’s possible.

Texpo Day 2: BeatBangerz DJ Academy

The morning took the team to @beatbangerz DJ Academy for a session with @djreadyd and @djazuhl , made possible through @gcap.za . The depth of engagement DJ Ready D and DJ Azhul brought to the session, and the time they gave the participants, made this one of the standout learning experiences of the tour so far.

Participants learned about the origins of DJing, the equipment behind the craft, and what it once meant to carry crates of vinyl to clubs and cue up a set by hand and a real sense of how far the tools have evolved. They learned about the elements of culture of Hip Hop and Cape Town as well as some history of the Cape, migration and building the Mother City culture.

From there, the group headed to the Museum of Illusions, a curious and thought-provoking stop to close out the day.

Today, @gcap.za has the pleasure of hosting the @texpoafrica team at the Tiny Warehouse, all the way from 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe.

This year, two winning teams — six students in total — travel to Cape Town from 16–22 August for a technology immersion tour. GCAP is excited to support this experience by connecting the young participants with the creative and cultural ecosystem that makes Cape Town such a unique city.

As part of the immersion, we introduce the students to the technology behind DJing and live performance, demonstrating how creative arts and technology intersect to open new possibilities for young people at @tiny_warehousecpt @bbdjacademy

We believe exposure matters. Strategic partnerships between education, technology, creative industries and community organisations give young people a broader view of what is possible.
