ZLB and his 20-person absolute wrecking crew of a band brought the heat to Mile High for Denver night 2. Volume up on the videos. The horns on Appetite are my favorite. With Heaven On Tour.

In October of 1993, when I was 10, my parents took me to see Simon and Garfunkel play at what was then the Paramount Theater at MSG. They opened with The Boxer. Pretty cool that all these years later, one of my favorite bands covers the song during their acoustic set on the B Stage.

I left town when we were over
‘Cause it didn’t feel the same
Every backroad had a memory
And every memory held your name

Happy Mother’s Day, Madeline. No one loves Gemma like you do, or as much as you do. What a mama you are. She is so incredibly lucky to call you hers. Thanks for being our rock. We love you. taken in Colorado by @georgeferrer

Happy 2nd Birthday, Gemma. You’re a hilarious, bossy little gal. Your voice and laughter are my favorite sounds. It’s been such a gift to see your personality and heart shine this past year. I love the days we’ve had and look forward to the ones to come. We love you so much, our sweet baby girl. taken in Colorado by @georgeferrer

My dad passed away on September 10. He would have turned 77 today. I don’t have the words for how fortunate I am that he was present in my life. I don’t know how he did it… He grew up without a father. He immigrated to the US from the Philippines in his early twenties. He met my mom in New York City and built an incredible life with her. He taught us the value of hard work; the importance of traveling near and far; the beauty of singing along to a good song; how to enjoy a delicious meal as a gateway to our own culture and that of others; and the bonus of looking good while doing it all. We’ll honor his memory as his teachings will echo through Gemma’s learning and growth, as they do through mine. So much of who I am and who I’m not is because of him.

Happy Birthday, Dad. Thanks for being all that you were, and all that you are. We love you. We miss you.
