Introducing Alexandra Beteeva (b. 1999) @getbeta , a British artist painting figures in spaces that feel familiar yet unreachable.

Alexandra paints memories of moments she never witnessed. Her approach combines traditional craft with a contemporary sensitivity to material, narrative and feeling. “I am drawn to the tactile and the handmade, to a slower, deliberate process that allows reflection. This connection to representational practice is central to my work and identity.”
Alexandra is a recipient of the Euan Stewart Memorial Prize for Printmaking, RSA New Contemporaries 2024 and Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2023 (@new_contemporaries). She graduated with a BA in Painting and Printmaking from the Glasgow School of Art in 2022. She has been selected for the Hospitalfield Graduate Residency Programme 2023–24 and the Royal Drawing School Printmaking Residency in 2024 and 2025.

My obsession!

I made 42 tiles from November through to the last ones being fired in July, the most exciting process that really unlocked painting on ceramics for me.

I’m gonna miss kiln access and will very much be manifesting a return to it!

The RCA MA Degree Show is now open!

Thank you to everyone who has visited so far, it has been wonderful sharing this work with you.

As part of this year’s MA Painting show, I’m presenting an installation bringing together a diptych painting, a series of ceramic works, and 𝘐𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘴 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨, a book of more than 40 monotypes made over the past year.

Together, the works ask what survives when space and narrative have been taken. They transmit rather than explain, faces that hold their opacity, marks absorbed by ancient stone, fragments that resist the demand for coherence.

There is a lot of strong work to see, both in my room and across the rest of the building, very much worth the visit!!
