100% of students referred to us are below grade level in math (3rd Grade), 99% are below in reading (2nd Grade), and have an average GPA of 1.54. As we start the school year at @skyview_high , recently having our first board meeting, I am excited for our chance to help students get back on track and make it count. It’s never making up for lost time, it’s always about ‘what do you need now, to be your best self for you, and your family’. I’m so honored to chair the board of our school with other absolutely amazing board members and an awesome principal and staff. Earlier this year we made history with our largest graduating class to date, and I pray that this year we exceed that goal, help some young adults, and make good on our promise to be there along the way. In my 10th year serving on the board, I’ve learned so much about education advocacy, working as a team, making tough decisions, and the value of balanced-leadership. Thank you @atlantanewsfirst #SkyviewHigh taken in Skyview High School by @goclay

For eleven years our @friendsoffaminc team has kept first things first - supporting our scholars and celebrating our dear FAMU. With over $120K raised this year for students, our supporters and stakeholders continue to make #BeOutDayATL a success. There is so much love, prayer, and goodwill in this work. Atlanta is such a special place for FAMU and HBCU Culture. Godspeed to year twelve! Amazing job 🎥 @chosenfewmedia taken in Central Park (Atlanta) by @goclay

Twenty Atlanta Youth Advisory Council students spent a full day at Atlanta City Hall for our City Government Career & Immersion Day this summer, and we still cannot stop talking about it.

From the Executive Offices to the Council Chambers to a fireside on the life and legacy of Maynard Jackson, our council walked every floor of City Hall and heard directly from the leaders shaping the future of our city.

Massive thank you to: Chief of Staff Courtney English and Deputy Chief of Staff Greg Clay for opening us up to the Executive Offices and framing the work of Neighborhood Reinvestment.

Brooke Jackson Edmond for the fireside chat that reminded these students who they stand on the shoulders of and the moral obligation they hold to themselves to chase their dreams regardless of the adversity they may face along the way.

Council Members Westmoreland, Collins, Winston, Amos, Bakhtiari, and Martin for taking time with us in the Chambers.

The Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services and the Mayor’s Office of Nightlife & Entertainment

City Hall is the people’s house and the Atlanta Youth Advisory Council is honored to do our part in moving Atlanta foward.

There is no offseason for democracy.

Deputy Chief of Staff @goclay keeps it simple: supporting culture means creating opportunities for artists to make a living doing what they love.

That’s how you build a creative city.

Incoming freshman at North Carolina Central University, Jahzara Williams, shared how much Deputy Chief of Staff Greg Clay’s “Go Get It” mentality inspired her. As she steps into this new chapter of her life, she’s carrying that same mindset with her. 🎓✨

‘When we provide light to our youth, the future is bright.’ Every year I sit and share with select interns across the city. These honor students interning in our municipal court department represent some of the best and brightest of our neighborhoods. Grateful I can sit with them and tell them the truth about life, the highs, the lows, why our work at City Hall is so important, and remind them that they have to tell their story, now. Commit, sacrifice, and don’t let anyone walking this planet tell you that you can’t achieve what’s possible. Let’s get after it and have a strong, impactful day - representing the best of our families. #MovingAtlantaForward taken in Atlanta City Hall by @goclay

Great to connect with fellow, FAMU Rattler, Christopher Hobbs, BBA at Atlanta City Hall today. Mr. Hobbs participated in Mayor Dickens’ Summer Youth Employment Program and is now at Georgia Power doing great things. He gave an inspiring speech at the program kickoff this year and grateful to learn more of his story. We also found out we have the same mentor in Jonathan Allen - a testament that #MentorsMatter and grateful for the many folks you have inspired Mr. Allen! #FAMULY by @goclay

The duly-elected Atlanta City Council are some of our most informed neighbors, chosen to represent the public. Along with Mayor Dickens, they are accountable for moving Atlanta forward in many ways. With a 13-2 (86%) super majority vote from the city council, the Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative moves forward. The majority of our community and Atlanta elected leaders overwhelmingly support this work. This is a historic moment for Atlanta. #MovingAtlantaForward by @goclay
