POSTS STORIES REELS

When I set out to write this piece, I thought there were far more Latin American brands operating at scale in Europe. Turns out it wasn’t the case.

This made the story more interesting, however. Europe is a difficult, saturated market and very expensive! It has every possible offer you can imagine and who on earth can compete with Inditex?

What I found instead was a smaller group of brands being very strategic about how they enter the market, where they show up and what they choose not to do. Read more to find out what the successful ones are getting right.

Thank you to everyone who spoke to me for this piece.

Give it a like, share and comment 🙏🏻

Muchisimas gracias a Cameron, @karlamartinezdesalas @karina_ulloa, @sergiokletnoy

I am psyched to finally share this piece with the world! I am immensely grateful to everyone who made time to speak with me—your kindness, generous responses and incredible work make it an honour and a pleasure to have these conversations. There were so many more names I wish I could have included—there simply aren’t enough pages in the world to do justice to the sheer talent coming out of Latin America.

A huge thank you to my editor Robb to @BoF for giving me the platform to write these stories. And, of course, to those who read them, thank you!

While streetwear may have lost momentum in Western markets, it continues to surge in countries like Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, where local entrepreneurs are injecting new energy into scenes that were already lively.

Read my latest piece for @BoF about Why Streetwear Is Still Booming in Latin America

Many signs point to an evolving, growing scene, from an increasing number of streetwear events and conventions to the rise of local brands emerging from both major capitals and smaller cities. These labels cater to distinct segments and offer local interpretations of streetwear. From Barra Crew’s coastal Brazilian references in Espírito Santo and Carnan’s ode to Rio de Janeiro, to Mexico City’s Sacrifice and Lima’s Perro Loco in Peru. Each brings its own flair to the market. Moreover, they’re giving international names a run for their money.

As always, I am deeply grateful to my editor Robb and to @BoF for giving me the platform to tell these stories. Thank you to everyone who lent their voice to shed light on this topic, and to those who read and share them :)

When Formula 1 returned to Mexico City in 2015 after a 23-year hiatus, Nico Rosberg became the first driver to lift a new trophy: a silver eagle designed by Mexican jewellery house TANE.

For my latest story in Esses, I looked at the history behind the Mexico City Grand Prix trophy, from Nino Bauti’s original design to the silversmithing tradition that helped shape it.

While it’s true that teams often launch special editions and activations around races, Singapore offers a particularly good reason. This year, no fewer than five Formula One teams are dropping special merch, hosting activations and events, and even unveiling special liveries for Singapore.… follow the money 💵 ➡️

Several Latin American fashion brands popped up at European fashion weeks in London, Milan and Paris. With debuts, returns and off-schedule shows, can these names make a mark on some of fashion’s most crowded schedules?
