Incredibly humbled to announce that I’ll be joining @uoflpronghorns as their Director of Pronghorn athletics this week. There’s so many people to thank and the paths that brought me to this position today that I don’t have enough tags. I’ll keep it simple to those… thanks for believing in me. This isn’t the byproduct of one person, nor will the future of Pronghorn athletics be as well. Every athlete, student, mentor, athletic director, associate dean and manager has helped shaped me as a leader in our community.

This position is one that I so strongly believe in. I think we have a unique position to not only inspire greatness in Pronghorn Athletics but shape the entirety of sport across southern Alberta. I truly can’t believe I’m lucky enough to call this adventure my new job.

Thanks to those who allowed me to be myself at Lethbridge Polytechnic as an instructor. I loved my job, and each day was always filled with joy, purpose and passion.

I would like to thank the University of Lethbridge for entrusting me with this position, and hope that I can create the absolute best environment for every athlete, coach and student. I would also like to extend a huge thank you for allowing me to continue with the @kodiaksmvb program. Kodiaks Volleyball has literally been my life, and I’m excited to prepare this group for another competitive ACAC season.

My office may be switching locations but the mission and purpose will always be the same. We want to care about others, lead and inspire our community and allow every person to become the best of which they are capable of becoming. I couldn’t be prouder to still reflect this mission across a whole institution rather than just one team. Many of the words, lessons and inspirations will be the same, and I’m still so proud to have the name ā€œLethbridgeā€ across my chest even if it’s a different shade of blue.

It’s the beginning of something special, and I can’t wait to see how we continue to build something together. Let’s make it happen.

PS. Please don’t ask about Pronghorn Volleyball until I at least see a budget šŸ˜† (unless you’re willing to donate large sums of money to make it by @greggibos

I am truly blessed to get to spend all summer with my family. From our first experience with swim club, to dog walks on the beaches of Park/Keho Lake, to our amazing trip to San Diego and all the outdoor adventures in between we found ways to spend meaningful time together this summer. It’s always bittersweet to head back to school in the fall - but I’m so excited for another challenge ahead. I tried to include one or two photos/videos from each week of our summer. Can’t wait to make more memories this winter. Now let’s go chase that banner! by @greggibos

What a nostalgic weekend for the Gibos crew. As a kid one of my core memories in the summer was early mornings in the car with my parents driving out to the Southern Alberta Summer Games. Getting to represent your community in sport, and become part of a larger team always felt like such a big deal. I think over the years we golfed, played badminton, baseball, and even some track and field.
This weekend was a full circle moment getting up at 5:00 to drive Allison out to her first SASG and what a weekend she had! We played on playgrounds, met new friends, watched new sports and spent some valuable time as a family together.
Allison has really started to develop as a swimmer thanks to some awesome coaches and a whole tonne of hard work. She’s shaved 10-20 seconds off several of her races since the start of the year and now has top 5 times provincially in her age group. This weekend we swam new races, got to be part of relay teams but most importantly- got to be part of our community. On to the next! by @greggibos

June as it was…
Such a great month celebrating and reconnecting. We had a big kindergarten graduation, celebrated friend’s birthdays, and spent lots of time outdoors. So lucky to have this time with friends and family before Ally starts full time school in the fall! by @greggibos

Is it exhausting being busy all the time? - Yes
Is it worth it to see all the joy this brings them? - also yes
Kids wrapped up their soccer and ball seasons today with some jamboree action.
I was lucky enough to coach both these two in their ball seasons, and it’s simply the best! (Even if I wished for rain some nights šŸŒ§ļø)
Still have some swimming lessons and swim club to wrap up the summer season before we hit the ice again! by @greggibos

Thanks so much to the @lethchamber for recognizing me as a member of their Top 40 under 40 list (yes I still qualify šŸ‘“

It’s humbling to be listed as a leader in this community amongst so many people trying to make a difference. . This recognition goes out to the countless athletes and students who CHOSE to become leaders on their own. The greatest compliment as a coach is having so many athletes want to become coaches and inspire others with the same messages you gave them. Our community is special, and becoming apart of the Lethbridge Polytechnic has truly changed my life.
This recognition goes out to all my fellow Kodiaks, Clippers, LVC, Warriors, Coyotes and Bears who wanted to become part of something greater than themselves. It’s been a blessing to cross so many amazing people and families, and I’m hoping this is just the start of growing our community in Southern Alberta.

Huge shoutout to @c.gibos for manning the fort when I’m away and spending time with other peoples families. This does happen without your sacrifice.

Another huge thanks to those leaders who stood by my side and helped build something truly special together : @mattyhemmz @matt.j.herman @thelifeofprim_ @s.gieske @coach.ard.b @on.dray @james.haythorne @healthyhuman_jt @malcolmfjf and those ACAC/Pacwest Coaches that are there to bounce ideas and challenges off of. Without you - simply none of this is possible.

Special thanks to Marda, Todd and Kevin for believing in me, and trusting me to be this person. Finally - shout out to @mizzouposcoachleadership for giving me more tools to help hone my craft and develop further as a leader.

It’s just the beginning. We have more work to do - but expressing a lot of gratitude for those who supported me today. by @greggibos

So proud of our little swimmer at her first ever swim meet. She was in the pool with lots of girls two years older than her, and showed no fear or hesitation and even jumped off the blocks after practicing it twice. She finished the meet 2nd amongst all 6 year olds in southern Alberta and we look forward to cheering her on all summer by @greggibos

A simple thanks isn’t enough.
Our support system, our bag packer, our lunch maker, the laundry fairy, biggest cheerleader and sign maker, dog walker, taxi cab driver, skating coach, accountant and friend. A mom doesn’t have just one job but 10 000 that go unnoticed every day. We’re thankful for your impact on our family.
They often say we see parents best traits in their kids and I can’t help but think of Allison’s resilience and persistence are you when she’s forced to tackle problems. Reese’s ability to work hard and keep trying are virtues you’ve passed along so selflessly. People always say we have such nice kids, and this is a direct result of you.
You’re crushing it @c.gibos and we’re thankful to have you by our side. Sorry for being the world’s most annoying partner through it all. by @greggibos

Hope y’all are okay with a moment of reflection.

There are a lot of times in my life where I stop and think… how lucky am I?
How lucky am I to have an incredible wife, a supportive family, and a job that genuinely excites me every single day.

For the past 10 years, I’ve been so damn lucky to be the Head Coach of the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks.

And I truly mean that.
The joy. The pressure. The setbacks. The growth.
It’s all been life-changing.

I want to thank @malcolmfjf and @healthyhuman_jt for organizing such a special evening before ACAC Championships—bringing alumni together and celebrating 10 years of memories. I’m not someone who loves the spotlight, but it was a humbling experience to have everyone back in the same room.

This year was another strong one.
After graduating arguably one of the best groups in program history—including 5 starters from our 2025 silver medal team—many expected a step back.
This group had other plans.

We came up short of our ultimate goal, but earned our first-ever ACAC bronze medal. And I couldn’t be prouder.

People often define coaches by wins and medals.
But after 10 years, that’s not what I’m most proud of.

Two things stand out:

1) The growth of men’s volleyball in Southern Alberta.
In my first year, our Junior Kodiak program had 11 athletes. This year, we had over 60 athletes at tryouts—from across Southern Alberta and beyond.
ā€œPlant seeds you’ll never see the shade of.ā€

2) The ripple effect of our athletes.
I’ve had the privilege of coaching 73 athletes over the past decade.
38 of them have gone on to coach—whether as head coaches or assistants in school and club programs (with many still competing today).

We’ve have graduates who are now teachers, accountants, future dentists and optometrists. Future leaders.

That’s something special.
That’s impact.

The identity these young men have built—pushing volleyball in Southern Alberta forward—means everything. Being a Kodiak stands for something.

I’m incredibly proud to wear the bear, and even more excited to see where it goes next. by @greggibos

Another fun weekend supporting our Ally girl at the Battle of the Bridge tournament. Wanted to send a huge thanks to our coaches with Lethbridge Ringette. Ally came in a shy, unconfident little girl and just grew so much during her season. She now talks about ringette every day. Confidence is such a powerful tool, and we’ve had a positive experience watching her this season. Onto the next adventure! by @greggibos
