Just Announced! ✨️ Lael Neale returns to The Chapel on Friday, February 12th. Tickets are on sale now!

In the wake of three critically acclaimed records on Sub Pop, minimalist lo-fi auteur Lael Neale announces “As Killers Do,” the inaugural self-release under her new imprint Consensual Sound, due November 20, 2026.

Recorded in the kitchen of a bungalow in Echo Park, Los Angeles with a Tascam cassette 8 track machine, “As Killers Do” is Neale’s fourth collaboration with Guy Blakeslee and stays true to the duo’s commitment to minimalism and the raw immediacy and hand-made intimacy of home recording.

The ten songs on the record offer up a variety of sonic worlds, from echoes of LA’s Paisley Underground and '60s girl group sha-la-las, to metaphysical proto-punk, timeless outsider folk and Surrealist psych-pop.

“Slip Away” by @laelneale is out now 🌀 the lead single from the album + As Killers Do + which we’re releasing on our new label CONSENSUAL SOUND on Nov 20,2026 🌀 we used an 8-track cassette machine to create the record in the kitchen of an Echo Park bungalow 🌀 the DIY stop motion music video is on YouTube & the whole project can be supported at LaelNeale.bandcamp.com 🌀 cover painting by Lael 🌀 photographed in Lisbon by @la_melancolia 🌀 mastered by @chriscoady 🌀 Written by Lael & produced & mixed by me ~ on this song I played the electric ⚡️ guitars 🌀 Endorsed by Iggy : “She’s managed to infuse a very done old female singer-songwriter, emotive approach with fresh abandon. She abandons a lot of the traditional instrumentation and doesn’t often bother with a beat and just kind of lets the whole feeling of the thing go into a place that suddenly doesn’t sound like it’s of the industry.” - Iggy Pop, BBC Radio 🌀 by @guyblakeslee

We just finished recording another new @laelneale record at New Atlantis in Sintra , Portugal , produced by the legend Sonic Boom @2020sonicboom2020 & engineered by Oswaldo Terrones @owt_taller_de_sonido ! It was an honor to experiment with sound & play so many instruments on these powerful songs , and collaborate with such an excellent crew in a home studio setting amidst all the plants & magic of Pete & Sam’s utopian compound ✨ special thanks to @littlemissmanagement @2020sonicboom2020 by @guyblakeslee
