Just Announced! ✨️ Lael Neale returns to The Chapel on Friday, February 12th. Tickets are on sale now!

In the wake of three critically acclaimed records on Sub Pop, minimalist lo-fi auteur Lael Neale announces “As Killers Do,” the inaugural self-release under her new imprint Consensual Sound, due November 20, 2026.

Recorded in the kitchen of a bungalow in Echo Park, Los Angeles with a Tascam cassette 8 track machine, “As Killers Do” is Neale’s fourth collaboration with Guy Blakeslee and stays true to the duo’s commitment to minimalism and the raw immediacy and hand-made intimacy of home recording.

The ten songs on the record offer up a variety of sonic worlds, from echoes of LA’s Paisley Underground and '60s girl group sha-la-las, to metaphysical proto-punk, timeless outsider folk and Surrealist psych-pop.

I was so excited to finally see Lael Neale play live last night after becoming a huge fan of her music several years ago, and if anything my expectations were exceeded! Watch for her new album at the end of November, and check her recent releases on Sub Pop in the meantime if you're not familiar.
Luna played a raucous headlining set, also great! No video of Luna because a large gentleman was in front of me for most of their set.
Both acts are playing tonight at Ottobar in Baltimore, get over there if you're in the vicinity!

p.s. - Cool to see @deanwareham repping Los Angeles indie-poppers @pillowfightpop!
