Reframing masculinity and mental health through art

And that’s a wrap for MANUP? Mountain 2026.

Our last camp of the year is done. Climbing, hiking, laughing, survival skills, bushcraft and plenty more along the way.

These weekends are a lot of work, but they’re worth every bit of it.

We get to watch the shy blokes slowly grow in confidence. We see the man struggling at the start of the hike somehow end up near the front by the finish. Men arrive not really knowing anyone and leave having shared a weekend they won’t forget.

That’s what MANUP? Mountain is about.

A massive thank you to every man who joined us, everyone who gave up their time to help, and everyone who supports MANUP? and makes weekends like this possible.

Thank you. 💚

🏔️ Our next MANUP? Mountain is 23–25 April 2027.

Want to join us? Check out our website and add your email to the MANUP? Mountain list. We’ll let you know when places open.

Not long now until im back with @manup.how going up an English mountain... here are some photos I took last time with disposable cameras... ad hoc shooting in between boot-steps and inconsistent breaths, the ever evolving skies above and the fragile ground below...

These moments are an opportunity to get folks together to connect with one another, the natural world and ourselves. Escaping the norm to reset and find a little relief from the daily arrgghhhh of life.

MANUP? MOUNTAIN ✨️✨️✨️

Reflecting on a few autumnal days with @manup.how, connecting with a group of guys, exploring nature and giving space for our own minds.

The idea of camping with a load of guys was a little uncomfortable. How different would i feel to the rest of them? Would i be considered to be one of the guys? Did i even want that? Would i other myself before I even got there?

Approaching the camp I was distracted by the beautiful surroundings. Flits of rain and ever changing formations of clouds, sunlight breaking through at every given opportunity. Trees shifting in colour and the early stages of allowing the wind to carry their leaves away. The ebbs and flows of the seemingly endless hills.

I arrived to handshakes, warm welcomes and tent assistance. Leading to an evening of chinwagging, various cycles of laughter and a slowly tiring brain telling me to go rest.

On hike day we awoke to glorious sunshine and the dopamine producing aromas of bacon and coffee. Led by the awesome human @themountaingirluk we made our way to Jacob's Ladder. Their knowledge of the outdoors is top notch and I couldn't recommend them enough as a hike guide!

Our route provided much opportunity; to connect more with each other, to find common ground whilst our feet stepped across the same land, to understand what life looked like for us all, and how we all came to be hiking together.

We organically floated from person to person as well as finding time to focus on our own breath and brains. The challenging aspects of the hike, the literal and metaphorical highs and lows, gave an appreciation of nature whilst allowing our bodies and minds to stretch, escape and heal.

Post hike chats swayed from poignant to silly. We gather around food and fire before slowly dropping out to seek rest in our tents.

The final day, we threw axes and shot arrows led by more excellent humans Wolfie and Martin. When you're guided to improve at something you just feel so cool. It brought us together in a different way. To celebrate each other and ourselves.

An awesome weekend with great human people. Thanks to everyone who came along!
