@harlemquartet opens 5BMF’s 20th Anniversary Season on October 1st!

This anniversary season, we highlight 5BMF’s legacy while also looking ahead to new things. Our opening concert featuring the Grammy-winning Harlem Quartet offers a program that does just that: by interspersing movements from Beethoven’s “Serioso” Op 95 string quartet with movements of works by William Bolcom, Wynton Marsalis, William Grant Still, and others, the Quartet highlights differences and similarities among these composers and brings to focus the importance of both tradition and innovation.

You won’t want to miss this concert! And - it’s FREE! Reserve your seat via the 5BMF website.

🎶 Artist Spotlight: Harlem Quartet 🎶
Grammy Award-winning and boundary-breaking, the @harlemquartet brings their signature energy and genre-defying artistry to the Clarion Concerts Annual Benefit on Saturday, June 13 at the Pocketbook Hudson Hotel & Baths in Hudson, NY. 🎻

Violinists Ilmar Gavilán and Melissa White, violist Jaime Amador, and cellist Felix Umansky have performed across 48 states and four continents, earned praise from The New York Times for their "panache," and taken home a 2024 GRAMMY for their recording Passion for BACH & COLTRANE 🏆. They completely reimagine classical music: weaving together jazz, Latin, and contemporary works.

For this very special afternoon, they'll perform works by Beethoven, William Grant Still, William Bolcom, and Wynton Marsalis 🎼 — a program that reflects technical brilliance, cultural depth, and joy!

Notably, Clarion Concerts is now led by the quartet's own Melissa White as Artistic Director, making this benefit an especially meaningful performance.

Doors open at 2:30 PM. Enjoy pre-concert cocktails, a live performance, and a reception to follow, all in support of nearly 70 years of world-class chamber music in the Hudson Valley. 🥂

Grammy-award-winning chamber music takes the stage with Harlem Quartet's fresh approach to classical music, this Saturday, November 15!

PRAx and Chamber Music Corvallis present the quartet, whose mission is to advance diversity in classical music by engaging young and new audiences through its dynamic repertoire and by including works by composers of color.

Pop in for the Lightbox Happy Hour — starting at 6 p.m. — with light snacks and drinks for purchase alongside a pre-concert by Instructor of Music History, Dr. Kimary Fick, titled "From Tradition to Innovation: Diversifying the String Quartet Canon."
