When I think about my career, I don’t define my success by achievements or accolades.

I define it by who I’ve become along the way.

As a high schooler, I set big goals and did everything in my power to reach them. I went all in mentally & physically to grind my way to the top. And before I knew it, I was there.
From high school backup ➡️ USHL ➡️ Big Ten ➡️ Pro ➡️ Olympics ➡️ NHL-deal.

But, eventually the fuel ran out. I wasn’t in alignment with my intuition or paying attention to what I actually needed. My obsession with progress, proving myself, and achieving the next thing caused me to push too far.

I burned out, my play declined, and I was forced to head back overseas to reinvent my career.

This was an uncomfortable process but one that gave me exactly what I needed: a shift in how I related to the game, but more so how I related to myself.

So, I took a deep dive into bodywork, trauma healing, nervous system regulation, and spirituality.

And the return wasn’t just a better goalie… it was a more embodied version of me. New levels of energy. Self-worth that lived outside of performance. A renewed love for the game I’d almost walked away from.

Things haven’t always been easy. There have been a lot of ups & downs, as there are in any athletic journey.

But I’m grateful that through all of it, I stayed intentional. Stayed curious. Stayed present. Finding ways to improve not just my game, but myself.

This path has taken me to places I never expected — across the world, into new identities, higher levels of performance, a way of life I didn’t know could feel this good, and a completely new relationship with hockey itself.

I’m grateful for it all unfolding exactly as it has.

And now, being in community with the HAUS founders and the athletes we work with… that’s what gives my career purpose. To embody what we preach.

And to help other athletes step into the greatness that’s already inside them.

My Dad put skates on my feet at 3 years old and the rest was history.

From early Saturday mornings watching cartoons as my dad dressed me for learn-to-skate, to living out my dream of playing college hockey at @uvmmhockey. I wouldn’t change any of it.

It was the ride of a lifetime and I’m so grateful for every moment and relationship along the way.

All of it…the wins & losses, the joy & disappointment, the achievement & failure, the triumphs & heartbreaks, the deep lifelong relationships & connections, and the shared memories that I have with every teammate I ever played with… all of it shaped me into who I am today. And for that, I’m eternally grateful.

The beauty of sports (& life) is that the more you give to it , the more it gives back to you.

And if you can see the lessons in every experience, the opportunity instead of the adversity, the feedback instead of the failure… sports can you help teach you who the f*ck you are.

But having patience is key, because sometimes wisdom takes time to surface. And if we stick with it, we can trust that it always will.

My goal now is to help athletes integrate those lessons along the way, rather than years later, or worse, never.

That’s why we started HAUS. Because this life is an incredible opportunity to know ourselves deeper, to experience the full spectrum of what it means to be human.

And sports is one of the most beautiful ways to do exactly that.

You are not alone. And we’re here to help if you need us.

Much love,

I was 23 when I made the decision to go all-in on my hockey career and my personal growth. I’m 31 now.

Up until that moment, I was fueled by a passion and love for the game that taught me so much every step of the way.

Since I made that renewed and conscious commitment at 23, I’ve gone to places I never expected in my game, in my understanding of myself, in my relationship with the sport, and in my relationship to life.

I’m playing the best hockey of my career. And it’s not a coincidence.

I’ve realized that an extraordinary life and extraordinary performance go hand-in-hand. What’s become obvious to me is that committing to my own evolution as a person was the best decision I could’ve ever made for my game and for my life.

And that’s why we created HAUS. So you don’t have to wait until something falls apart to start figuring out who you really are. And to fall in love with yourself, life, and the process.

And if one thing has become clear looking back, it’s that we’re not meant to walk this path alone.

Confidence is a funny thing.

When we’re playing well, everything seems to click. We trust ourselves, play freely, and don’t spend much time questioning what we’re doing.

But then we have a few bad games, things stop going our way, and suddenly that same confidence can feel miles away.

So how do we find our way back?

Michael Phelps gave us a pretty incredible example during the 2008 Olympics. When his goggles filled with water during the 200-meter butterfly final, he couldn’t rely on his vision anymore. But he’d practiced counting his strokes, and that preparation helped him finish the race and win gold.

We love that story because it reminds us that we don’t always need everything to go according to plan to have something we can trust.

And that’s something we focus on at HAUS. Not trying to feel confident every second of every game, but developing a better understanding of ourselves. Learning what helps us feel grounded, focused, and free, and building practices we can return to when things get difficult.

Because confidence should be built on a solid foundation or otherwise it will elude and frustrate you..

But the more we understand what helps us get into that state, the more we have to rely on when the results aren’t there.

And that takes time, practice, and a little patience with ourselves.

So maybe the question isn’t just how we can become more confident, but how well we understand what helps us feel confident in the first place.

If you’re an athlete struggling to find your confidence or looking to develop a more consistent mental approach to your sport, DM us “CONFIDENCE” and we’ll get back to you.

We’re here to help.

Every coach tells you to stay calm under pressure… but nobody teaches you how.

Most athletes spend their whole career trying to avoid it, push through it, or pretend it isn’t there. And when it shows up anyway, they white-knuckle their way through and hope for the best.

But pressure isn’t random. It’s information. It’s your body telling you that something matters, that you care, that you’re in a moment worth showing up for.

Billie Jean King won 39 Grand Slam titles and called it “a privilege.” Not because she was immune to it, but because she learned to work with it instead of against it.

That’s what we focus on at HAUS. Not how to eliminate the hard parts of competing or life, but how to build a relationship with them, how to transmute the pressure into poise, presence, and power. How to notice what’s happening inside you, stay present with it, and use it instead of running from it.

But that takes practice. So give yourself some grace. It all starts by noticing when we feel pressure. And then the question becomes “what do we do with it” starting way before the big moment arrives.

If you’re an athlete struggling with pressure in your sport or in your life, DM us “PRESSURE” and we’ll get back to you.

We’re here to help.

Most athletes know what it feels like to be in flow state…

But learning to balance on that fine line consistently is much easier said than done.
