Oh, @kirstenvangsness. You are a gift to the world. The world!
What you’re doing- and who you are- IS NO A SMALL THING.

Art (& community) will save us.

At least from despair.

That’s no small thing.

Now is the time to save:
democracy,
each other,
ourselves.

Aside from speaking up,
calling your reps,
peaceful protests, donating money, time, love
& protecting your gdamned neighbor (!)-

NOW is the time to KEEP:
making art
creating & sustaining community
And, of course:
harassing 🧊

Henry & I just had the honor of experiencing Kirsten’s show OUTDATED.
I hope you get to see it. You guys! OMG!
We.
Were.
Blown.
Away.

We laughed. Cried. Cheered.
Sat w/ mouths agape at her bravery,
vulnerability, humor, truth,
& willingness to say Eff you to Shame.

I call that #shameloss.

And she’s HILARIOUS. And hot as sh*t! 🔥

I’ve been a wreck with everything going on. Who isn’t?

K’s show was the exact thing that I ( we ALL) needed.

During times like these, it’s easy to forget how important art & community are.

We asked @officialgayhendricks how he feels about what’s happening right now in the US with women’s rights.

“I think it’s a good example of what in The Big Leap I call the upper limit problem. Women had this big time of expansion in the 1970s and 80s, and then all of a sudden Ronald Reagan comes in, they start bad-mouthing abortion, and start making abortion a political issue, and start shaming women for all of that. And so it was a gigantic upper limit on that expansion. And then I think women kind of fought through that, and now this is another wave of that fascist contraction against truth, feeling, beauty, all of the things that fascists hate.”

Gay identifies as a radical feminist and this episode unpacks his childhood and why he believes that not all men are free, until women are free.
