I am honoured to be included in the @time 100 list of the world’s most influential people.

This recognition is not just personal - it reflects the importance of the work we are doing together in Europe.

To have this recognition come with such thoughtful words from Margrethe @vestager makes it especially meaningful. Her leadership and commitment to a fair and open digital Europe have long been an inspiration.

There is still much to be done: building competitive and open technological capabilities, advancing trustworthy AI, reinforcing our infrastructure, and ensuring that our digital rules deliver for citizens while standing firm in a complex global landscape.

I am grateful for the trust placed in me and proud to contribute to this shared European effort. Together with my team, we strive daily to make Europe safer, more competitive and digitally sovereign. by @hennavirkkunen

A journey into the future of European innovation begins here.

I am doing a tour across the EU to discover the excellence of EU supercomputers 🔜 AI Factories!

They are at the heart of Europe’s AI future. Enabling startups, researchers and industry to develop cutting-edge AI in a secure, European environment. They will also be hubs for innovators and academia, driving collaboration and excellence across borders. by @hennavirkkunen

So far, we have 13 AI Factories in Europe, and I plan to visit them all.

Each one tells a unique story of EU excellence in AI, computing, and digital leadership.

Two days in Ireland focused on connectivity, trusted AI and European innovation.

In Limerick, EU Telecom Ministers discussed the Digital Networks Act, subsea cables, network resilience and young people’s safety online.

At the AI Summit in Dublin, my message was clear: Europe must build its own AI capabilities, keep AI under human control and put it to work across our economy, from detecting cancer earlier to making power grids smarter.

Together with the Irish Presidency, we also launched the European AI Innovation Month: nearly 100 events across Europe, leading up to the Apply AI Summit in Brussels on 17 November. 🚀 by @hennavirkkunen

Technology and innovation were at the heart of my visit to Sofia.

I met Prime Minister Rumen Radev and Minister Ivan Vassilev, and visited EnduroSat, a fast-growing Bulgarian satellite company, with Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov.

At Sofia Tech Park, where talent, education, ideas and technology come together, I held a roundtable with local tech companies. These conversations are always the highlight.

Europe is full of brilliant innovation. Now we must make sure our companies can reach markets and scale up. taken in Sofia, Bulgaria by @hennavirkkunen

Sofia marathon 42k completed ✅

A sporty start to my mission to Bulgaria, as I got out for a Sunday run at the @marathon.sofia before the official part of the programme. It was lovely to run and to explore the city and Sofia’s iconic landmarks 🤩. Thanks to all the organisers, volunteers, and fellow runners for a great event!

Today in the @europeanparliament plenary we discussed the proposed KIDS Act and its gradual and age-appropriate approach to social media.

Protecting children online is one of this Commission’s top priorities.

Children’s attention must not be a commodity. Algorithms, endless feeds and constant notifications have too strong a hold on children’s daily lives for us to settle for the status quo.

Today’s debate has shown the determination to make the online world a safer place for children and generations to come. taken in European Parliament Strasbourg by @hennavirkkunen

For young people it is important to be connected, but it has to be safe!

I met with EVP Virkkunen to ask her about digital safety and youth participation… and of course I brought a football! ⚽️

Two inspiring days in Helsinki 🇫🇮🇪🇺

Security and competitiveness go hand in hand. Europe needs its own strong industrial and technological base, from defence to AI.

Getting behind the wheel of Patria’s 6x6 was a good reminder of what European industry can do. Europe needs more of this capability, built and scaled here. taken in Helsinki by @hennavirkkunen
