Meet DOUEN’s DIT/Production Assistant (Trinidad and Tobago) — Naila @nxiladelrey!

Naila is a business student, real estate agent, content creator, and entrepreneur with a growing interest in media, film production, and the creative industries.

She brings an adaptable, observant, and detail-oriented approach to her work and enjoys being part of collaborative, fast-paced environments where she can learn and contribute.

Outside of film and production, Naila also manages a small food business, volunteers as a tutor, and enjoys creative outlets including crochet, sewing, and photography.

We’re grateful to have had Naila as part of the DOUEN crew and for the energy, flexibility, and support she brought behind the scenes!

Meet DOUEN’s AI Visual Effects Artist — Samori Coles @samoricoles!

Samori is a generative AI director and producer with 30 years of experience in the music industry as an audio engineer, producer, and songwriter.

Today, he directs cinematic AI music videos and films, helps build artist brands, and teaches creators through the AI Creator Society. He is also a GRAMMY voting member.

We’re grateful to have had Samori bring his creative and technical expertise to DOUEN and help bring the visual world of the film to life!

Kham is a freelance cinematographer, filmmaker, and editor with a passion for storytelling and an acute eye for detail.

With a background in visual arts, including drawing, painting, and photography, Kham has worked across short films, web series, events, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations.

Guided by the principle of Ubuntu — “I am because we are” — Kham finds fulfillment in connecting with people and objects through film and visual storytelling.

✍🏽 The Writer’s Room with Alyscia Cunningham @alysciacunningham

One of the things I talk about with actors is the importance of knowing your lines.

It’s not just about memorization.

When you know your lines, you’re able to be present in the scene. You can listen to the other actor, respond, and connect instead of thinking about what comes next.

But I also believe there should be grace. Especially when we’re working with our elders.

Sometimes memorization can be challenging, and that doesn’t mean someone should feel embarrassed or like they don’t belong on set.

There are ways we can create support — more rehearsal, cues, breaking the scene down, or simply giving someone the time they need.

As filmmakers, I think we have a responsibility to create an environment where people can do their best work, but it is also the actor's job to know their lines.

Preparation + patience + respect.

Know your lines.

But also know your people.

What are your thoughts? Is there a balance between being prepared and giving actors the support they need on set?

Meet DOUEN’s Production Assistant — Leia Terrenzi @onomato.leia!

Leia is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television. She has experience in post-production, production assisting, grip work, animation, and video editing, and has worked on short films, web series, and documentary projects.

Her skill set includes storyboarding, 2D animation, After Effects, video editing, PA work, and grip work. Leia brings a creative eye, strong work ethic, and positive energy to every project she works on.
