Happy Canada Day. Here’s to the waters that bring us together. 🇨🇦🎣

From brook to bay, where wild waters run,
Canada’s fishing is second to none.
Salmon and steelhead, bass in the reeds,
Pike, perch, and bluegills that answer our needs.
Today we celebrate more than a flag—we celebrate the waters that keep calling us back.

This football slammed the Xzones stealth craw on a Texas rig! A great presentation for pressured fish on rocky bottoms. Let it drop to the bottom and then slowly reel it back with a few pops and dragging it on the lake floor from time to time.

Somewhere between the cast and the retrieve, the world gets quieter.

No deadlines. No notifications. No rush to be anywhere else. Just open water, fresh air, and the rhythm of casting toward whatever lies beyond the next bend.

Maybe that’s why we keep finding our way back to wild places.

Sometimes peace is just a rod, a stretch of water, and nowhere else you need to be. 🎣🌲

FROM THE BOX ➡️ TO THE BASS. 🎣

Pulled this @eurotackle Micro Crankbait out of my July Mystery Tackle Box Pro and knew exactly where I wanted to put it to work.

Tied it on, hit a local pond, started working the water and… FISH ON. 💥

That’s what I love about a Mystery Tackle Box—you’re not just opening a box of random tackle. You’re discovering new baits, trying techniques you might not normally reach for, and sometimes finding something that flat-out catches fish.

Want to see what’s in your box? 👀

Unbox it. Tie it on. See what bites. 🎣

Sometimes the challenge is half the fun. 🎣

After catching a few panfish with my son, I decided to give myself a mission: catch a rock bass on the kids’ @zebcofishing with a micro popper.

A few casts, the right cadence, and BOOM—topwater rock bass. 💥

Good tackle absolutely makes a difference, but even the best lure won’t catch fish by itself. Knowing where the fish are, how they’re positioned, and how to work the bait is what turns a cast into a strike.

Turns out you don’t always need the most expensive setup. The kids’ @zebcofishing rod, a tiny popper, and a little know-how will get it done. 😎🎣

Sometimes the simplest setup is all you need.

Cruising the kayak, hunting for structure, and putting together a solid bluegill bite. The key was finding the right water and slowing down enough to let the fish tell the story.

These slabs couldn’t resist the @limestonelures Drip Teeze in Pink Glow paired with a @trout_magnet jighead. 🎣 Use Code hookedwithsaj to get 15% OFF

A big part of the puzzle was using @fishanglerapp to locate underwater structure and holding areas before ever making a cast. Once the fish were found, the action followed.

And as always, staying comfortable on the water thanks to the UV protection gear from @castthreads. ☀️

Bluegills, calm water, and a kayak loaded with memories. That’s a day well spent.

There’s always a reason 🎣

Behind every lake, river, or stretch of shoreline I fish, there’s something that drew me there—a new species, beautiful scenery, or simply the possibility of a story worth remembering.

Fishing has taken me to places I may never have explored otherwise. Some trips end with a personal best, some with a lesson, and others with a reason to return.

Grateful for every fish, friendship, and adventure along the way—and I hope this page inspires you to explore new waters and see where the next cast takes you. 🌊

For months, bass opener sat circled on the calendar. Tackle boxes were organized, rods were rigged, and anglers across the province counted down the days.

When the morning finally arrived, I loaded the kayak and hit the water with one thing on my mind: bass.

No distractions. No chasing panfish. Just a stick bait and a grass line that looked too good to pass up.

The cast landed tight to the edge. A slow retrieve. A twitch. Another pause.

Then the line jumped.

Moments later, I was hauling in my first bass of the season—and what felt like half a pound of grass along with it. After months of anticipation, it is the only fish that mattered.

Bass opener is finally here.

Some trips test your patience more than your tackle.

I drove 200 kilometres to the Trent River with one goal: put a walleye and a river smallmouth in the net. After recently finding success with lake smallies, I figured it was time to take the hunt to moving water.

The trip started with a surprise. First cast, first fish—a personal best rock bass. It felt like a sign of things to come.

It wasn’t.

For the next three days, the river humbled me. Paddletails, inline spinners, chatterbaits, Ned rigs, Texas rigs, wacky rigs—I threw just about everything in the tackle box. Shore, dock, rain, clouds, even dodging thunderstorms that sent me packing early. The fish simply refused to play.

On my final morning, with only a couple of hours before the drive home, the clouds finally broke. The sun peeked through, and I made one last stop for a tub of nightcrawlers.

Sometimes the old ways still win.

A nightcrawler pinned to a 1/16-ounce jighead beneath a bobber drifted naturally through a slow seam. On the first drift, the float disappeared.

Then it happened again.

And again.

In thirty minutes, I landed four smallmouth, finally slipping one into the net for the photo I’d been chasing all weekend.

The drive home reminded me of something every angler eventually learns: fancy lures have their day, but there are times when the fish make the decision for you.

Some days, you just need the nightcrawlers. 🎣

🔥 PB ALERT! 🔥
Landed my personal best 2lb 13oz Largemouth at a local pond this morning!

Went out with my good buddy and in just 1.5 hours, we hauled in over 30 fish! 🎣

The bite was fire at dawn but slowed once the sun got higher — timing is everything!

🔥 New Species Unlocked 🔥

The alarm broke the silence at 5 a.m., and by the time most of the world was still asleep, I was already walking the riverbank. The air was cool and sharp, the kind that carries promise. Ahead, I heard it—heavy splashes in the current. The salmon were awake, shaking off the night, staging for their push upstream.

I rounded a bend and found them stacked tight in a deep pool—thirty fish, maybe more, holding steady against the flow. The kind of sight that sets your pulse quick. Beads, nightcrawlers, crankbait—I cycled through them all. The first hook-up came quick, then another. But the river doesn’t hand out chinooks easy. Fish were lost, hooks shaken. The bite faded, returned, then faded again.

Finally, one stuck. The strike was hard, the run harder. The drag screamed as over twenty pounds of pure muscle tore through the current. For seven minutes, it was a tug-of-war with a freight train. When I finally eased it in, the fish lay in my hands —the biggest I’ve ever landed.

1 from 5. 22 pounds of memory. Another species crossed off the list ✅
