The ART of opening a bottle of bubbly🥂✨

As your hostess with the mostest, I think it’s only right that I share how to PROPERLY open a bottle of Prosecco, Champagne, or any sparkling wine, especially as we enter the most celebratory months of the year♥️

Here’s all you need to know:

Step 1: Pull the tab to unravel the foil (most bottles have one for easy removal).

Step 2: Make sure your bottle is properly chilled! This helps reduce the pressure inside the bottle and minimizes the likelihood of the cork flying out unexpectedly. Always keep the bottle angled at approximately 45° and pointed away from yourself and others.

Step 3: Untwist the wire cage about 6 times, but DO NOT remove it! Keep your thumb firmly over the cork and maintain control of both the cork and cage.

Step 4: Keep a firm grip on the cork and cage, then slowly twist the BOTTLE, not the cork. Allow the pressure to gently ease the cork out. The goal? A soft little SIGH, never a POP.🥂

And just like that, you’re ready to pour, host and celebrate in style!✨

I gained 3lbs perfecting this recipe (ate so much cake but I ain't mad at it at alll) so I hope you love it as much as I do🥰🤎

As someone that her MO has always been 'I cook, I don't bake', it's been a lot of fun slowly getting into baking🥰

COCONUT CAKE RECIPE 🥥🍰
Serving: 12

CAKE INGREDIENTS

• 3¾ cups (443g) cake flour
• 3 tsp baking powder
• ¾ tsp baking soda
• 1½ tsp salt
• 1⅛ cups (255g) unsalted butter, softened
• 2½ cups (495g) granulated sugar
• 225g egg whites (about 7½ large egg whites), room temperature
• ¾ cup (180g) sour cream, room temperature
• 1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract
• 1½ cups (360ml) canned coconut milk, room temperature
• 1½ cups (120g) sweetened shredded coconut

BUTTERCREAM FILLING INGREDIENTS

• 1½ cups (339g) unsalted butter, softened
• 12 oz (339g) full-fat brick cream cheese, softened
• 7½ cups (900g) icing sugar (I prefer blending granulated sugar and cornstarch instead of the store bought version - blend 900g of granulated sugar with 36g(4.5 Tbsp) of cornstarch)
• 3 Tbsp (45ml) canned coconut milk
• ¾ tsp pure vanilla extract
• Generous ⅛ tsp salt
• 3 cups (240g) unsweetened shredded coconut, for decorating (you can use sweetened if you want the cake to hold more sweetness, the sweetened version also has more moisture to help with sticking onto the buttercream)

A little transparency.

After the last HBR Supper instalment, I took some time away to reflect on why I started hosting these dinners in the first place.

Over time, I found myself becoming increasingly focused on the logistics, costs, and numbers that come with running a business. Necessary things, yes—but not the reason I first set a table.

At its core, #HostedByRal was created to bring people together. To create a safe space where food acts as a catalyst for connection, conversation, and community.

The thoughtfully curated menu, the tablescape, the wine and mocktail pairings—they all matter deeply to me. But they’re the invitation. The real magic happens around the table.

So for this next chapter of HBR, I’m returning to that intention.

A beautiful meal. Meaningful conversations. New connections. A seat for both friends and strangers alike.

Tickets for our July 25, 2026 dinner drop Friday, July 3.
