And just like that… Bloom After Dark comes to an end.

What a spectacular few nights in Bendigo — when the gardens came alive after dark, the tulips glowed, and the city felt just a little more magical.

We loved having Bloom right on our doorstep at Hotel Ernest, with guests wandering through the gardens, soaking up the colour and making the most of everything Bendigo has to offer.

A huge congratulations to everyone who brought Bloom After Dark to life. What a beautiful way to celebrate spring in Bendigo.

Until next year… 🌷 taken in Bendigo, Victoria by @hotelbendigo

Because Spring is for staycations!

Don’t you agree?

So I’ve booked two more this week!
😆🙌🏻

But before I set out on those I wanted to share some highlights from the last one I went on in Bendigo recently!

I went there for a foodie walking tour with @bendigoguidedtours but I decided to stay in the area and make a weekend of it and discover some of its highlights!

And of course while I was exploring and experiencing some hidden and not so hidden gems I stayed at the amazing and luxe @hotelbendigo where I always find something new to fall in love with!

I have to admit this time I fell in love with how well my outfit unintentionally matched my room! 😂 It’s why I couldn’t resist a quick photoshoot there!

And even though it was actually winter when I visited most of these places and activities are there all year round!

So if you’re looking for the perfect spring staycation why not check out Bendigo and @hotelbendigo soon!

You never know maybe I’ll be there too!

48 HOURS IN BENDIGO: WHERE TO EAT, DRINK & EXPLORE

Bendigo makes a delicious weekend escape - excellent regional dining, cute cellar doors and unexpectedly beautiful landscapes. Here’s how we spent 48 hours in the region.

DAY ONE

10.30AM — PINK CLIFFS
Start at this striking former gold-mining site near Heathcote, where erosion has exposed a landscape of pink, rust and ochre. It’s an easy wander and beautiful in the morning light.

12PM — @silverspoonestate
Continue to this off-grid winery for a relaxed lunch overlooking the vines. Owners Peter and Tracie make the experience feel personal, with DIY wine flights tailored to your tastes. Don’t miss the tempura cauliflower, crisp-skinned salmon or shiraz ice cream.

2PM — @shirazrepublic
Drop in for a tasting before walking through the nearby Cornella Canola Walk. When the fields are flowering, the vivid yellow landscape is spectacular.

4.30PM — @lakesidehotelbendigo
Check in and recharge before dinner. Its lakefront location makes it a convenient base for exploring Bendigo.

7PM — @aliumdining
Settle in for an intimate dinner shaped by local produce and thoughtful, contemporary cooking. Warm service and a relaxed room make this the kind of restaurant where you immediately feel at ease.

DAY TWO

9.30AM — @whitbybendigo
Ease into Sunday with breakfast overlooking the city. The food is generous and the view makes it worth lingering over another coffee.

11AM — @bendigotramways
Step inside the Bloom Tram Café, a vintage Bendigo tram transformed with colourful seasonal florals — a quick but lovely stop between breakfast and lunch.

12.30PM — @terraebendigo
Housed inside one of Bendigo’s original bank buildings, Terrae brings together beautiful interiors, personable service and modern cooking that champions the region.

2PM — @greatstupabendigo
Finish at the largest Buddhist stupa in the Western world. An unexpected delight.

Save this guide for your next weekend in Bendigo.

I’ve always believed the best restaurants reveal themselves before the first plate arrives. It’s always in the tiny details for me - the warmth of the welcome, the softness of the lighting and the easy rhythm of the room. Those small, almost intangible details shape the entire experience—and at Terrae, the energy felt right from the moment I walked in.

Set within a former 1860s bank in the heart of Bendigo, Terrae, housed within Hotel Ernest is intimate and atmospheric, with a menu that feels refined without slipping into formality. They have done a beautiful job at breathing life into this historic building while retaining its original character.

Under the culinary direction of Tim Foster, the kitchen brings a strong sense of place to the table. His produce-led approach celebrates the seasons, drawing on locally grown ingredients (from their farm where possible) and time-honoured techniques while keeping the cooking fresh.

Handmade pasta is a particular strength, accompanied by a considered wine list that gives Central Victoria plenty of room to shine. But what stayed with me most was that initial feeling: warm service, generous hospitality and a restaurant that knows how to make you feel welcome.

Terrae feels like exactly the kind of restaurant Bendigo deserves—and another reminder of just how exciting the city’s dining scene has become.

Save this one for your next weekend in Bendigo. 🍷

Created for moments of comfort and connection, the Vera × Creswick collection captures a refined approach to country living — relaxed, tactile and distinctly Victorian.

Exceptionally soft, lightweight and warm, alpaca fibre brings an effortless layer of comfort to the home without the weight of a traditional woollen throw.

Each Vera × Creswick alpaca throw is proudly cut and finished at the Creswick mill, continuing a tradition of quality textile craftsmanship in regional Victoria.

A contrasting rust blanket stitch brings a distinctive finish to the Springmount throw — a subtle detail that gives this timeless piece its own character.

The natural thermal properties of alpaca help release heat in warmer conditions while keeping you cosy when temperatures fall — comfort designed to carry you through the seasons.

With its bespoke colour palette, contrasting stitch and luxurious natural fibres, the Vera × Creswick throw brings warmth, texture and understated elegance to any space.

Surrounded by the beauty of Ballarat, Vera Hotel brings together thoughtful design, local connection and the kind of luxury that invites you to settle in and stay awhile.

A Weekend Guide to Bendigo’s Under-the-Radar Food and Drink Scene

The Bendigo region may be best known for its gold rush history, but its food and drink scene remains one of Victoria’s best-kept secrets.
Named Australia’s first Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy (https://www.bendigoregion.com.au/explore-bendigo/bendigo-city-of-gastronomy) in 2019, the Bendigo region has grown into one of the state’s strongest regional dining destinations. Agriculture underpins much of the region’s food culture with many venues drawing on local produce, while nearby Heathcote is home to one of the state’s leading wine regions. Whether you’re planning a weekend away or simply passing through, here’s where to eat, drink and stay this winter.

Eat
Terrae (https://terraebendigo.com.au/) has become one of Bendigo’s defining restaurants, showcasing regional produce – much of it grown in the venue’s own kitchen garden – in a former bank in the Arts Precinct. Handmade pasta, chargrilled meats and seasonal seafood sit alongside smaller dishes such as Jerusalem artichoke, leek and parmesan tart, or fresh tuna with scorched blood orange, avocado, pomegranate, pistachio and lemon thyme. Downstairs, a cellar bar is a fitting stop for dessert and a nightcap.

Stay
Within the area, Hotel Ernest Bendigo (https://hotelbendigo.com.au/) pairs heritage bones with contemporary rooms and original artwork. Ten suites sit above Terrae, so dinner and a nightcap in the cellar bar require nothing more than a trip down the stairs.
