This win isn't mine alone. May catto masters core team po who tirelessly supported and helped me get through my applications. Salamat: @ramirsera , @kabante , Ate @intolittlestars , @absmodales , Eun, @jdmxguel , @jeshavillasis , and Ate @hoomanpau who were with me in every application 🌸✨Without them, I would have been so demoralized in the hiccups along the way.

Aside from the core team, we were also generously supported for specific applications by friends who believed in me: Kuya Yong, @banannee , Kuya @raymond_naguit , Kuya @thelanceortiz , Kuya Frocks, Ate @jennaejereza , Goddess @katreena_chang , @venti_ventura , @aikarobredo , and @decereejoylipa .

At syempre, salamat po sa aking recommenders who vouched for me and fought with me through this: Ken, VP Leni, Sir Randy, Sir Robie, and David.

Pramis, mas gagalingan pa po! by @hyabendana

New caption: Now that I have more time to actually write this: I want to talk about my sister.

She didn't get an Interior Design degree thinking of multi-million mansions. One of her strongest motivations is to turn houses into homes so that family members will keep choosing to stay at home and spend time with each other.

Kumbaga, talagang gumawa ng tahanan.

So nauuna ang pagiging functional sa ganda. Hindi kinakahiya ang "kalat", but instead sees it as a home well-lived.

At dahil hindi kami anak-mayaman, whenever she decides the home elements (mapa-tiles man yan, furniture, or lababo), priority nya lagi kung ano ang madali linisin.

Isa yan sa pet peeves nya: gorgeous home designs that have little to no consideration sa kung sino ang maglilinis. At madami :))) Many of the country's top design firms, napaghahalataang hindi mga marunong maglinis ang mga nagdidisenyo. For my sister, a home's beauty is dependent on the people whose hands maintain it.

And because she is mm, she also makes sure na tahanan ang bahay hindi lang for the humans that live in it, but also for the furry members that give our life meaning.

Her favorite designs center pets. My family is a big animal people and rescuers. My parents have +35 pets. My aunt has 32. I have 11 cattos for myself, living alone. So... you get the picture 😅

I am very proud and happy that she joins the field. I used to see Interior Design as a soulless, pang-alta exercise. The results I see are always houses that are far away from how mass Filipinos actually live. Madami kasi maganda, pero mahirap linisin. Aesthetic pero parang walang nakatira. Sanitized pang-IG. And of course, mahal.

But through my sister, I'm seeing the more humane, grounded, and centered part of interior design.

Happy graduation to mimim!

Panalo po tayo!!!

I am honored to share the nominee stage with @alexajocom (Founder of Halia) who reimagines menstrual health with her innovative bamboo pads and @danibuenvenida (follow her on Tiktok!!!) who destigmatizes women actively choosing for themselves 🩷

@moveasonecoalition secured: P 53.2 billion of public transport investments, 812 kms of bike lanes, service contracts for 100,000 transport workers, and the country's first bus rapid transit now serving 65 million passengers annually --- lahat po ito dahil sa matatapang na kababaihan na pinipiling kumilos para sa dignified access sa lahat.

More so to win the award. There are awards usually for NGOs and NGO leaders but historically po, the Tatler Front and Female Awards usually recognize business leaders and entrepreneurs who have expanded opportunities for women and broke ceilings.

Kaya po ang award na to is for everyone in @moveasonecoalition who work hard to visibilize the invisible and make the movement of our most vulnerable... more dignified.

Calling our alumni, students, athletes, organizations, faculty, and other members of the Ateneo community

🌸 𝟐𝟔𝟖𝟗 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟔𝟔 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟑, 𝟏 𝐚𝐦 🌸

When we drafted this last night, part of us were reconciling who Ateneo is and who it once was. Nung Sanggu President ako, sobrang proud ko that our admin listens at kahit na minsan nagkakamali, marunong magsorry.

Second year college ako nung nagtransport strike. As anak ng jeepney driver, I felt abandoned then by my own institution. I posted and it became viral.

Sinamahan ako nila Sir Rem (OSA), inaassure ako, a fearful financial aid scholar, that my scholarship will not be withdrawn for calling Ateneo out.

Hindi pinatake down ung post. Walang appeal to tone down na nangyari. I was really just called to hear their apology, represented by the Vice President of the university no less.

I remember walking out of her office, not quite believing na may admin na nagsorry sakin. I was a nobody. No positions or titles yet. Pero nakatanggap ako ng sorry ☹️ 🥺

A year after graduated, Ateneo set the standard for student policies during COVID. I remember being so proud na alumna ako ng unibersidad. It led with compassion, so much compassion.

Kaya it hurts me to see the coldness of all these public statements.

We demand better.

Magandang Pinay. Unang Bikolana. Unang Atenista.

At syempre, proud angkang Nacario-Bendaña!

We made it, mga marzie! 🩷 To a program that admits fewer than 1% of its 8500+ applicants, tayo po ay may full funding and generous stipend para sa dalawang taong mag-aaral at rarampa sa Stanford University :D

Harvard, Oxford, NUS, and IHEID are all incredible universities with competitive offers para sa posa, pero 𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗶𝗯𝗮 𝗽𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗶 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 --- one that aligns closely kung paano po ako nag-oorganisa on the ground, labas sa ano mang titulo o posisyon sa gobyerno.

𝗜𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, 𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁 𝗸𝗼:

"In wealthier countries with higher-functioning institutional environments, governance innovation often begins with models — equations, optimization tools, and predictions that assume a certain stability.

[....]

The traditional approach (to policy and advocacy) then mostly succeeds when systems already function; in fragile democracies like the Philippines, we often have to design those systems first."

𝗜𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗸𝗼 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗲 𝗻𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗶 𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝘂𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮, 𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘆, 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶 𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴 𝗻𝗮 𝗰𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆.

I know that Stanford and @knighthennessy will give me what I need to keep thinking outside the box, to continue challenging the rules, and to reimagine further how systems can work for the communities that raised me and brought me here.

𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗽𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗶 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗻𝗮 𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲.
