Can a single garment define an entire brand identity? @prada says yes.

From the radical 63-skirt SS27 runway to iconic archive pieces, Miuccia and Raf turned a wardrobe basic into a global cult object. It’s never just a piece of clothing. It’s an attitude. by @i.d.kit

Rei Kawakubo’s cryptic prompt for the season — «When royal life and everyday life become one» — is far from a romantic fairy tale. It is a profound deconstruction of elite isolation and institutional transformation.

Look at the architecture of the silhouettes as you swipe through the first act. This is not clothing designed to flatter; it’s an armored cell and a conceptual theater. Kawakubo takes the ultimate symbols of monarchal privilege — the sweeping crinoline, the regal robe, and elite dress codes — and boldly transforms them in heavy, raw denim. The opening structural spheres are literally opening at the seams, split to reveal a vivid scarlet, deep underlayer of pleated tulle.

As you swipe deeper into the carousel, the historical deconstruction turns inward, shifting from societal critique to raw, structural forms. In the striking polka-dot looks, Kawakubo forces the interior mechanics to the exterior. A stark white, padded framework mimicking a sculptural cage and corsetry architectural lines defines the body. Trapped within this synthetic structure, the traditional polka-dot fabric — usually a symbol of pristine, conservative mid-century femininity — is compressed, bursting outward like intricate inner layers or fragmented textile design.

Why the extreme, distorted volumes?
For decades, Kawakubo has used unique, avant-garde shapes to challenge the male gaze and commercial compliance. But here, the bloating feels conceptual. In a world transforming under wealth disparity, these swollen, impenetrable silhouettes are bubbles ready to expand. The models pace the narrow runway like walking monuments of a historic era, crowned not with gold, but with crude, makeshift fabric headpieces that look like papier-mâché replicas made by common folk.

This isn’t a celebration of royalty — it’s a historic drama staged in denim and architectural framework. Kawakubo redefines sartorial hierarchies, suggesting that when the excess becomes too heavy to bear, the raw, interior reality will always emerge through the seams.

Fashion as pure artistic expression, captured in form.

The rebel syntax.

In 1952, Marilyn Monroe casually turned to photographer Jock Carroll with a request that would shatter her innocent Hollywood persona:
“Know what? I have to learn to smoke for my next picture. Give me a cigarette and you can take pictures of me practicing.”

She had never smoked in real life. Yet, looking at these frames, there isn’t a single trace of hesitation. The cigarette doesn’t mask her blinding beauty—it unlocks a raw, dangerous kind of freedom. Adorned in high-glam diamonds, she looks entirely alive, channeling a rebellious spirit she wasn’t supposed to have.

Not just practicing a role.

Praying flip-flops: pure internet trash or the ultimate holiday grail?

While the rest of the industry is busy over-engineering silhouettes and faking quiet luxury, LA-based label @praying is selling cheap $80 rubber slides with pop-culture trauma printed on the soles. No logos. Just Britney kissing Madonna, early Lady Gaga paparazzi shots, and that crying woman from the cat meme. Here is why everyone actually wants to pack these for their next trip:

*It’s the ultimate anti-fashion flex. Wearing $80 plastic flip-flops where you literally step on the faces of icons is peak post-irony. It shows you don’t take the industry seriously. It’s loud, trashy, and perfectly self-aware.

*Manufactured chaos.
Praying drops these in tiny, unpredictable quantities. It’s literal cheap PVC, but because it sells out in three minutes and ends up on Billie Eilish and the Hadid sisters, it instantly becomes an elite insider token.Fashion right now isn’t about premium fabrics or master tailoring. It’s about stealing collective internet memories and wrapping them into something aggressively basic.

Would you pack these for your vacation, or is the joke getting old? by @i.d.kit

Long before the internet turned fashion into a series of viral, wearable memes, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac had already set the blueprint.

For Sonia Rykiel’s iconic 40th-anniversary show (SS09), her daughter Nathalie secretly asked 30 legendary contemporary designers to create a single tribute look. Castelbajac completely stole the night by turning the founder’s own identity into the garment’s actual architecture.

He didn’t just print a face on fabric; he weaponized her most recognizable physical traits, extending her signature hairstyles out of the dress silhouettes to create a living, walking piece of 2D pop-art:

• The Fiery Legacy — The iconic cover look, embodying her ultimate, instantly recognizable signature: the hyper-textured, flaming orange mane.
• The Blonde Origins — A nod to a young, pre-fame Sonia as a blonde, featuring long flowing extensions topped with a heavy silver tiara.
• The Sharp Transition — Representing her midway shift in style with a graphic, jet-black bob cut.
