POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
When I started this thing I just wanted a space for women to gather without having to tip toe around topics so as not to trigger another. I was tired of being in rooms where talking about the erotic and uncomfortable emotions were taboo. I didn’t like that I didn’t see anyone that looked like me or shared stories that I could relate to. I wanted a community of women who cared about each other for caring sake.

I wanted a space to actually welcome triggers as guides, where women could use their voices in meaningful ways that serve another, where they could come be nourished by community and make a few friends along the way, where there isn’t any barrier to entry and women can come as they are.

I created this space in late 2022 and now almost 4 years in and approximately 46 monthly circles later, I think it’s served its purpose and it’s time for a change.

I want to take us further, from gathering for practices and sharing our experiences in circle, to go deeper into empowering ourselves from the inside-out - which would mean actually taking ourselves on beyond these rooms and in our lives. It’s time.

Where can we mindfully push our own edges of discomfort to reclaim more of ourselves, our lives, and lineages? If safety is something we know we can create in our ecosystems, what seeds are we planting and tending to, and what are we growing, how does it nourish our bodies, who are we allowing a seat at the table?

From the Center is designed to support you in the embodiment of our 5 key pillars:

Unshaming
Somatic Inquiry
Devotional Action
Coregulation
Expression

The main focus shifts quarterly, with each circle taking you through deeper layers of discovery and integration.

The time between circles are for taking the work outside of the rooms, into our homes as well as extended communities, with each other as accountability partners and safe spaces to exchange ideas or stay supported.

It’s going to be confronting, but we’re not a man-hating, “f*ck the patriarchy” type of group - there’s room for your pain & the focus is CREATING from the HEART center.

As women our leadership lies in heart-alchemy. Join @coragraceful and I to find out what that’s all about. by @iam.mightylight

I realize I haven’t ever done this, so allow me to reintroduce myself.

Hello, I go by Azimah but my full name is Nur Azimah Binte Azmi. Nur Azimah is Arabic for Mighty Light, which explains my Insta handle. Azmi is my dad so don’t call me that. I am from Singapore, born and raised (no, we’re not all Crazy Rich Asians). I moved to the US on a soul calling I could not ignore, and found myself a home in San Diego, CA where I’m currently based.

I am an active creative and big time nerd. I love immersing myself in the things I’m passionate about and building relationships with people in the spaces I enter. I enjoy taking the lead and I equally value stepping back to learn from others. I love finding artistic beauty in things people would consider mundane.

I’ve chosen to be of service through a multitude of ways because I’m in love with various things. I am a Lead Trainer with @gmbfitness and I lead the Women’s Jiujitsu program as a Brown Belt in @victorymmasd. I actively sponsor people in recovery from addiction and codependency in 12 step programs. I use over 10 years of fitness coaching experience to support women and men in their bodies, this time blending EQ skills, relationship guidance, through a mindful and heart-centered approach. Recently, I’ve added Womb Medicine to my repertoire, supporting women with sexual wellness, reclamation, and enlivening her tissues in relation to the pelvic diaphragm through hands-on body work and mentorship. Also, I host free monthly Women’s Circles where others get the opportunity to take the lead, at @naluhealingarts every first Sunday of the month.

The common thread I see in all the above is: I get to support people in creating a visceral sense of safety in their bodies and trust in themselves.

I didn’t get to go to college but I’ve always had a thirst for knowledge and I learn best through experience and getting my hands dirty. My path competing in bodybuilding, powerlifting, and jiujitsu, as well as injury and addiction recovery, have all led me to expand my learning which eventually ends up serving people in my life, and that’s pretty rad. I see myself continuing to be “schooled” this way.

Numbness isn’t the end, nor a curse.

Usually it’s where the body is waiting for safety before it speaks.

I was cut as an infant, been touched by careless hands, and spent many years believing parts of me were de@d and gone. I was wrong.

If you’ve felt numb, disconnected, or “broken” in relationship to your sexual nature, this is for you.

Comment ALIVE and I’ll send you the details.

My wife’s tears showed me how much I hated my own weakness.

When she would have big emotional storms I either collapsed into shame “I’m not enough” , or disgust and contempt “ugh you’re so fu$%ing weak”

Both of these were ways that I protected myself from letting her pain touch my heart. I just didn’t know how to hold that type of charge. My body would instantly just resist against it

When I was young I learned that being weak lead me to feel overwhelmed, scared and helpless - I despised those feelings, so I learned to reject them outright in myself or another. I couldn’t permit them to be anywhere near me

I also learned that a woman’s tears meant my needs wouldn’t be met, that there would be nobody to protect me from the tyrant and I was all on my own. It also meant I wasn’t enough for her to want to care for

As a little kid that is a lot to hold

Fast forward a few decades, the same feelings I had then showing up in my body as grown ass man, married to the love of his life, and every time she felt something big and cried I shut down.

Each and every time left with feeling shamefully inadequate, angry with her and myself

Until I learned that my body was conditioned to react to certain situations in the same ways it learned to survive them as a child, I was just trying to change the behavior.

“Don’t shut down”
“Don’t get angry”
“Don’t be disgusted “

The problem was I couldn’t just not feel those ways. I needed to be lead into my inner world with a guide that wasn’t going to just talk about it but help me go into the body and feel it all. Understand, accept, grieve what I needed to. Grow my capacity to feel those intense feelings in my body until they no longer held the same charge. I no longer had to just blindly react to them. I could see them and feel them with enough space to choose my reaction

It’s only when I can create enough safety in me, that I can keep my heart open enough to do the same for another.

These are the skills of an emotionally safe man
And it is my pleasure to guide men (and women) on this path every day by @iam.mightylight

When accountability and acknowledging harm is synonymous to being wrong, unworthy, or outcast, being told to own their sh*t can feel like an attack.

People push back against what feels like an attack, their defenses switch on, and taking an honest look at themselves is the last thing they’d want to do.

Unfortunately this doesn’t work in healthy relationships of any kind. Even if it wasn’t intentional - harm is harm, and human beings sometimes do it without realising.

Ruptures are human, and yet it’s possible to repair and restore integrity after that - I believe it’s important as a collective to build this soft skill especially through hard times if we’re ever going to tackle some very real problems we see in the world today.

When I work with the subconscious mind with my clients, we look at the internal mechanisms that prioritizes deflecting accountability as a means of creating internal safety.

Often times it looks like, “if I truly harmed them im a terrible person/ I’ll lose love in my life / people are going to hate me / if im to blame I’ll let someone else off the hook,”

These early embedded narratives are tied to strategies that were likely very effective in the past, but no longer work in creating intimacy in partnership, friendships, and beyond.

When the OS in your smartphone is outdated it’s going to slow down your device, things lag and don’t work as well as they used to. A software update is in order for things to run smoothly.

The same is true for inner work - your subconscious mind and the wisdom of your body.

Fun little video experiment as part of an art project I’m doing on the side that doesn’t need to make sense to anyone else but me - hehe.

I’ve always loved the human body since I was a child (LOVE playing doctor) but it took me a while to fully be home in mine. Every time I’ve gone away to the safer spaces in and out of my mind, what keeps me coming back is my spine. It’s the bridge between my mind and my hips, my cognition and my sex, my crown and my root, it’s not a coincidence - it’s Divine.

A healthy spine isn’t a stiff rod, but one that can handle varying degrees of articulation and stress, it waves. Beyond physiology, spinal integrity mirrors where I “have my own back” in spite of external noise and things I “should” do, and also where I can bend and soften and twist my ever evolving shapes as life calls for me to.

We’re not meant to be so stiff, rigid, and brittle like icicles, nor like a wet noodle that collapses when placed in hot water… instead more organic, alive - and our bodies get to reflect that. by @iam.mightylight
