This look on my face? 🥰

It’s the look of a woman who’s finding her way back to herself.

Not because everything is perfect. Not because every question has been answered or every challenge resolved.

But because I’m exactly who I thought I was, I know what I bring to the table, and what I deserve.

It’s a quiet confidence. A knowing. A peace that doesn’t require proof.

I’ve spent enough time questioning my worth, second-guessing my decisions, and wondering if I was enough.

Not anymore. No ma’am!

I’m relearning to trust myself again. To make more room for joy. To believe that what didn’t work out was a redirection.

And this smile? It’s the realization that I don’t have to force what’s meant for me.

Everything is working together in my favor. Even the things I didn’t understand while I was going through them.

I’m not who I was three months ago. And I’m grateful for the woman I’m becoming.

This is what reclaiming myself looks like. ❤️

I’ve survived seasons that tried to convince me I was finished. I wasn’t finished. I was being transformed. I also learned that survival is not a way to live. I deserve to thrive. by @iaminspowered

Sis, you cannot keep pouring from a source you’re setting on fire. 🔥

You’re overwhelmed. You’re burned out. And here comes election season, the holidays, and the relentless pressure to crush those Q4 goals.

Everybody needs something from you. Your job. Your family. Your community. The world.

And somewhere in the middle of showing up for everybody else, you’re disappearing from yourself.

You’re burning the candle at both ends, not realizing YOU are the candle.

Sis, this pace is not sustainable.

You don’t need another productivity hack. You don’t need to push harder. And you certainly don’t need to earn your rest.

You need a RESeT.

One that allows you to move from surviving to living. From enduring to experiencing joy. From constant urgency to intentional presence.

Because the goal isn’t to make it to the end of the year exhausted.

The goal is to make it there whole.

💜 What’s one thing you’re giving yourself permission to release before this year ends?

Join us in The RESeT Room. Learn breath work, meditation, mindfulness and learn to set boundaries before the boundaries set you on fire. Link in bio to join virtually or in person. #TheRESeTRoom #RestIsNecessary #BlackWomenDeserveRest #CommunalCare #ChooseJoy by @iaminspowered

Last Night’s Community Yoga Recap… 🧘🏾‍♀️✨

What happens when we intentionally create space for people to simply BE?

We cultivate belonging. We nurture connection. We make room for collective healing and JOY.

One of my deepest purposes is to create spaces where community can gather, breathe, move, rest, and practice regulating our nervous systems while finding moments of liberation from what bell hooks described as interlocking systems of oppression.

And what better place to practice communal care than at @ourbridgeforkids?

Rooted in the heart of Charlotte’s immigrant community, ourBRIDGE embodies what it means to welcome, honor, and protect humanity through its LERD values: Love, Education, Respect, and Diversity.

Our partnership is a beautiful reminder that when we share our resources, gifts, skills, and talents, we don’t just strengthen organizations. We strengthen COMMUNITY.

Because healing doesn’t always happen in isolation. Sometimes it happens on a yoga mat, surrounded by people who remind us that we belong.

We are no longer just enduring life. We are intentionally creating space to experience more JOY in it.

And there’s room for YOU. 💜

Join us on Sundays at 6 PM for FREE Community Yoga. No experience necessary. Every body is welcome. Come as you are, and leave with a little more of what you need.

Space is limited. Registration is required. Link in bio.

At the end of this day, I’m proud of what I got done. Today I centered Joy, and I chose to eat the frog first, as a joyful challenge…Brake job, transferring account information, scheduling, meal prep, laundry, and outside to adult play…Can it be true? I’m enJOYing the WAY I’m adulting rn! Creative cooking has returned. Systems of organization. My routines. How I get to operate is my responsibility. 🤭 I love this for me! 🤭 by @iaminspowered

I’ve been guilty of speaking to myself unkindly for many years when I didn’t know better. I didn’t deserve it. For all the years I was unkind to myself, I get to live the rest of my life being the kind of friend I deserve. I nourish myself with loving words, loving thoughts, loving beliefs, and loving feelings. I am my best friend. by @iaminspowered

A moment of transparency…

In April, I interviewed for a position at @ourBRIDGEforKIDS. I wanted the job. I wanted to deepen my work in Charlotte’s philanthropic community.

I wasn’t selected.

Was I disappointed? Absolutely. But something in me knew the connection wasn’t supposed to end there.

So, I reached back out.

One conversation became another, and eventually we asked: What could we create together?

The answer was community yoga.

Tonight, we held our first class. And as I looked around the room, I realized that what began as a professional disappointment had become something much more aligned with who I am and the gifts I already possess.

A space for us to breathe.
To move slowly.
To rest.
To be held and supported.
To feel safe in our bodies.
To experience joy.

Yes, I was looking for another way to serve my community while creating sustainable income for my household. And there is nothing wrong with naming that.

But God had another idea about how my gifts could make room for me.

And maybe that’s part of the lesson I’m learning in this season:

As Black women, we don’t have to spend our lives simply enduring.

We can participate in creating lives with more joy.
More rest.
More connection.
More softness.
More community.

We can create the spaces we need.

This is communal care.
This is healing.
This is joy in the form of a rest practice.

And we’re just getting started. 💛

Join us every Sunday at 6 PM in Charlotte’s Historic East Side. Practice with Brandy @beyoutiful.rootz on 10/11 and Niambi @niambi_bxoracle on 10/25. No class on 10/18.

Registration and the class are free (Donations welcomed): https://yoga.inspoweragency.org/home by @iaminspowered

A moment of vulnerability.

In July of this year, I was overwhelmed, broke, and broken. I had exceeded the limit of my capacity, and it was impacting my mental, physical, and spiritual health.

If it weren’t for my friends, sisters, family, and my RESeT Room community, I don’t know how I would have made it to see today.

And if I hadn’t asked for, and accepted, the help I needed, I would have drowned in the overwhelm, depression, and daily tears.

I was tipping the scale at 281 pounds. Everything in me and around me had had enough.

Being forced into a situation of change became a wake-up call. It pushed me deeper into my relationship with God, challenged me to forgive myself, and invited me to step toward a brighter light.

Today, I feel more like myself than I have in a very long time. #god #therapy #movement #meds #framily

I’m down 35 pounds. I feel good being in this body again. And that spark of joy that had gone quiet in my heart? It’s starting to sparkle and dance again. ✨

I know life isn’t linear. There are phases that challenge us and seasons that test us. In each one, I’ve had to decide how I want to show up, and how I will hold myself accountable for the life I’m creating.

Here I am in the middle of my life, living alone for the first time ever, asking myself two deeply personal questions:

Who is the person I want to love?
And how does she deserve to be loved?

My answer has become a prayer:

God, show me the way. Lead my steps, my mind, my tongue, and my heart.

This healing journey has been messy, painful, rageful, sad, frustrating, miraculous, faithful, beautiful, and now, joyful.

I’m learning that with love, faith, support, and a willingness to keep showing up, I can do hard things until the hard things become easier.

It’s time to shine. ✨

And if you’re somewhere in the middle of your own becoming, you don’t have to do it alone.

Join us in The RESeT Room every Sunday at 7:30 PM Eastern. Come as you are. Bring what you’re carrying.
