POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What a powerful month it is! While I believe we should celebrate the accomplishments of Black people and share their stories throughout the year and throughout our lives, there’s nothing wrong with specifically highlighting them in February.

As we honor the past and the incredible individuals who have laid the groundwork for so many of us, it’s equally important to recognize the stories of new Black leaders and game changers. Hearing their journeys and reading their stories is crucial, especially considering the sacrifices made by those who came before us. You can find a current powerful Black story in my memoir and in many pieces of contemporary Black literature today.

If you’re interested in getting my memoir, it’s available on @amazonbooks , @barnesandnoble (BN.com), and @kobobooks for just $2.99 (eBook). Special thanks to these organizations for featuring my book and offering the same incredible deal.

This promotion ends on 2/15, so don’t miss out. Consider gifting it to someone who can benefit from my story. Thank you for your support! by @iamjonathanconyers

@stonybrooku I thank you again for allowing me to not only speak to the EOP students but for making me your 2023 Commencement speaker. It’s hard to put into words what this moment meant to me but I’m honored to have been selected. Thank you ❤️

Kids are living the consequences of decisions adults make for them, so they often see the problems first and the solutions clearest. When we listen, we don’t just make them feel heard, we build a generation that believes their voice can change the room. by @iamjonathanconyers

Honored to be the inaugural speaker for Stony Brook University’s Dean of Students Speaker Series, hosted by the Office of Student Life. As an alum, coming back to campus to share my story and connect with students means more than words can express.

Join me on September 3, 2026 at SAC, Shore Club from 5:00 PM–7:00 PM for an honest conversation about resilience, purpose, and finding your way facilitated by Dean of Students Dr. Ric McClendon @sbudeanofstudents

Free copies of my book, “I Wasn’t Supposed to be Here,” will be available.

Also want to say thank you to Stony Brook University for allowing me to be a special guest at the home opener football game @stonybrookfb! Go Seawolves! by @iamjonathanconyers

We're thankful to the Carmel Hill Foundation for supporting BDL's efforts in our new initiative Books In Our Hands and for purchasing copies of our co-founder @iamjonathanconyers memoir, I Wasn't Supposed to Be Here, for our students.

We're also grateful to the Teagle Foundation for purchasing copies of Cicero for our campers. Literacy and reading will always be at the core of debate and the BDL. Thank you for helping us move this work forward.
