Hello, my name is Tiesha and I AM a vessel for God’s work as a Storytelling Visual Artist who uses art to engage, educate, uplift and transform the community. My paintings serve as visual narratives, reflecting my life experiences and community through vibrant portraits and abstract expressions of mark-making and color. I founded Sunflower Soul Project; a healing arts + justice initiative that supports secondary survivors of homicide through the transformative power of art, neuroscience, and trauma-informed training after losing my sister.

As a secondary survivor, I experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate the family and legal system during a time of grief and trauma. These experiences have fueled my passion to contribute my lived experience and advocacy skills to help families, advocates and communities feel supported.

Sunflower Soul Project is rooted in trauma-informed care and practices, nervous system regulation, self expression, long-term community healing, mental and emotional well-being.

I have worked with a diverse range of clients, delivering speaking engagements, trauma-informed training and facilitating healing art experiences in schools, conferences, and galas, while also partnering with cities, nonprofits, and organizations through contracts and community initiatives.

I am a creative leader with over 15+ years of event planning experience. So there is no limit to what we can do at Sunflower Soul Project and each EXPERIENCE is tailored and aligned to the needs of your organization.

Day 22: Let's heal, Sunflower Soul 🌻

... because ART HEALS I decided to create a daily visual diary of 6" x 9" paintings leading up to trial in January. There is no theme, no planning, JUST CREATE to contribute to my self-regulation practice (Bible study, sound healing, movement, nature, creating, etc.) My goal is to tone my vagus nerve, creating a positive loop that reinforces emotional resilience and balance. Although what I am going to hear, feel, and see will impact me, my hope is that I will be able to regulate myself in real time enough to withstand it and process.

I love art calls with my nieces and nephews. 💜🩵💯🧡🩷💚 I love them so much!!!!!!! When I first started painting 6 years ago, I would have them paint with me and then every time they came over they would ask if they could go to the studio. It was one of the first thing they wanted to go do. Proud auntie.

Now years later, they are painting and doodling and calling me to show me what they have done. 😭😭😭😭🥹🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😭 #myheart by @iamundefinedart

Lights. Camera. ACTION.

The time when fashion, photoshoots, and blogging consumed my days. I was immersed in interviewing emerging designers and stylists across the world. Gotta Love Fashion. I had so much fun creating backdrops, even if it meant taping up magazine clips in my bathtub. I was determined 😅. The bathtub photoshoots into high fashion.

I came across these photos last night and had to give this Tiesha her props. Fashion is still a passion. Im sure I will circle back in the future and integrate it into the work I am doing.

SUNFLOWER SOUL!

I was recently approached by an educator who hired me last year to come share my story and my sister’s light with her class. She shared that another educator, who had also brought her students to hear my story, was inspired that she changed her entire classroom decor to SUNFLOWERS. 🌻 Turning towards the sun has become her classroom motto.

Knowing that my sister’s light continues to inspire others in meaningful ways... means so much to me. 🌻🌻🌻's came to me in my darkest moments, when I needed to meet someone, opportunities, etc. I knew it was not a coincidence. I followed the sun, documented my journey, kept going, rested, and the list goes on. I'm just getting started and am looking forward to future projects, conferences, and programs in the near future. It’s about the journey.
