One of the biggest races on the circuit, with some of the best athletes from around the world all competing and bringing the best out of each other.

I had an OK swim by my standards, coming out of the water just behind the faster guys and knowing there was a long day ahead.

Then onto the bike without doubt one of the hardest 90km courses I’ve raced, heading straight into the mountains around Nice with roughly 1,200m of climbing.

Looking back, I definitely overcooked the first 90 minutes on the bike. I pushed hard through the climbs trying to stay in the race, and by the time I reached the top of the mountains I could feel just how much I’d put into my legs.

From there it was time to change the approach. I used the long descent back towards Nice to recover, get some nutrition in and try to bring some freshness back into the legs. I knew there was still a half marathon waiting for me, so the priority became getting off the bike in a position where I could still run.

Coming into T2, the legs were definitely feeling that early bike effort. It took me a couple of kilometres to find them again, but once they came back I started to settle into a rhythm and get to work.

This is what a World Championship is all about racing against the best, pushing your limits and finding out what you can produce when everyone around you is doing exactly the same.

Proud to have been on that start line and given everything on one of the biggest stages in the sport thanks to the Coachs and training partners along the way @matt_james_davies @sion_kelly_mcintosh taken in Nice, CĂ´te d'Azur, France by @iansteiger_tri

What a day! 🥉

A 3rd place finish in my at Luxembourg 70.3, and I couldn’t be happier. Everything came together today I felt strong, raced smart, and had one of those days where everything just clicked, especially with the heat playing its part you needed to stay in control of your heart rate.

This season has been one to remember:
🥉 Oman 70.3
🥉 Outlaw Nottingham
 4th Zurich 70.3
🥉 Luxembourg 70.3

Four races, three podiums, and a top four finish. The consistency is building, the hard work is paying off, and I’m really happy with how the season is progressing.

I’m also proud to have already secured my place at the 2027 Ironman 70.3 World Championships. First though, all eyes are on the 2026 World Championship in Nice this September.
Once again thank you to the coaches @matt_james_davies @sion_kelly_mcintosh taken in Luxembourg by @iansteiger_tri

Solid ride today, 4 hours 30 minutes and 145 km in the legs.
Main set was:
• 20 min @ 300W
• 5 × 10 min @ 300W
• 2 × 5 min @ 305W

The numbers are definitely moving in the right direction, and it’s great to see the consistency paying off. I’m putting together a really solid block of training, and the legs are starting to respond.

Nice to have some company out there today as well thanks @benfowler1981 the coaches @matt_james_davies @sion_kelly_mcintosh @sion_kelly_performance_coach by @iansteiger_tri

This was a good battle today in Zurich, racing against some of the fastest guys on the circuit.
I finished 5th AG and while I’m pleased with the result, a podium is always the goal. I was absolutely spent on the climbs and just didn’t have the power to stay with the front group on the bike. Even pushing over 340 watts wasn’t enough to hold on. Unfortunately, that’s where I lost the time needed to fight for a podium position.
The swim and run were both solid and kept me in the mix, but the bulk of my time loss came on the climbs. That said, I’m happy with the race and pleased that the nutrition plan worked exactly as intended.
It’s always special having my wife there to support me, and it means a lot to share these moments together.
Next up is Luxembourg in five weeks. Time for a short break, then it’s back to work and ready to go again.
A huge thank you to my coaches for getting me to the start line in the best shape possible. Their support, guidance, and belief allow me to keep pushing my limits and chasing the next level big shout to @sion_kelly_mcintosh @matt_james_davies @louisesteiger by @iansteiger_tri

Outlaw Half today…with the swim being a little chilly as you would expect at 06:00 this morning 🥶

Had a solid swim by my standards, then got onto the bike feeling surprisingly good considering the amount of fatigue I’ve had in the legs over the last couple of weeks. Halfway round, my back wheel hit a lovely pothole which punched the wheel and caused me to lose a lot of air…just glad I managed to nurse it back and make it to T2.

Then onto the run where it took about 7k before I could finally feel my toes again 😂 but managed to get the job done.
Definitely not the quickest race by my standards, but overall happy to come away with 3rd in AG 🥉

Also nice racing @sion_kelly_mcintosh and the gang today…think that makes it 1-0 to me hahaha 😜 big thanks to the coach’s that keep getting me ready for the races @matt_james_davies @sion_kelly_mcintosh by @iansteiger_tri

It’s been a good solid few days in Mallorca with the boys. We had 5 of us racing the 70.3 Ironman on Saturday while the rest of us were spectating which is unusual for me as I’m normally the one racing. It was great to stand on the sidelines for a change and watch the guys absolutely smash themselves out there… hats off to every one of them 👏
For me, it turned into some big training blocks instead. Sunday was probably the biggest day starting with a 3.5km sea swim in the morning, followed by 5 hours on the bike climbing deep into the mountains where my legs completely collapsed by the end 😅 Then straight off the bike into a 15km run with the sun beating down the whole way.
Overall, 7 hours of solid work in one day and a pretty strong week of training all round. Mallorca never disappoints.#MallorcaTraining

Unfortunately, it just wasn’t my day at the London Marathon.
Cramping hit very early and I had to walk much of the race, but I was determined not to have a DNF next to my name.
Sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth so I soaked up the atmosphere, enjoyed the incredible crowd, and high fived as many people as I could along the way. The weather was perfect… it was simply one of those days.
The training was there for a fast marathon, but unfortunately it didn’t come together when it mattered.
The good news? Race season keeps coming thick and fast onto the next one#LondonMarathon

This has been one of the biggest training blocks I’ve ever done 10 straight weeks without a single day off, most days doubling up sessions. Especially coming back from the World Championships in November, it’s been a long 2025 season.
I decided to race Middle East Championships in Oman to kick start 2026, and to line up against a good friend of mine, @rafaeldomingos.tri What most people don’t see is the mental side of it, being forced for 10 weeks straight, hitting every session, and getting up at the crack of dawn when your body just doesn’t want to move, that’s where the difference is made.
When it’s dark, cold, and quiet and you still lace up, still show up, still push forward.

Today 3rd place was everything I had on the day and a podium is always something to respect.
I came here to win but the stronger guys delivered today, massive shout out to the winners And honestly, credit to everyone who toed the line. Racing in this heat, especially coming from the UK, is a whole different challenge… big kudos to all of us who battled through it.
Now a few days in Dubai to reset and recharge before switching focus back into the next training block and the races ahead.

Thank you @matt_james_davies and @sion_kelly_performance_coach for pushing me to the limit and keeping me accountable, cannot wait for 2026 races.#triathlete #running #swim #bike #runswimbike ironman ironmantri ironman703 worldchampionship fitness fitnessjourney triathletelifestyle triinspo sport adidas motivation run strength marathon marathontraining triathlontraining swimbikerun ironmantraining runner uktrichat activetravel specializedbike hoddedsontriclubmatt_precision_coach taken in Muscat, Oman by @iansteiger_tri

Trust your coach?

I pride my athlete/coach relationships being founded on TRUST.

It’s foundation 101 for any successful coaching relationship.

It can take a little bit of time to build and get to know each others strengths and weaknesses and communication styles.

But once it clicks it’s a pretty unshakeable bond.

I’m blessed to work with some pretty badass athletes on my current squad & loved every minute of being out in Marbella for the @ironmantri 70.3 worlds this week supporting my team.

2025 has already rocked & 2026 is taking shape big time.

Need a coach who really gets to know what makes you tick who you can trust?

I don’t have many, but there are a few spots left on the team for 2026 so don’t hang about! I’m just a DM away 🫶🏼 by @iansteiger_tri

As the race season comes to an end, it’s been one hell of a journey and definitely a long one, It started with the London Marathon, running with my son, Then came Nottingham 70.3, where I took 3rd place.
Nice was a tough one I blew up in the heat but still finished 6th, before heading straight to Luxembourg where a wrong turn on the bike cost me, landing 16th.
Germany was where everything came together again, putting all the mistakes right and taking the win.
Next up was the GB Olympic qualifier, finishing 2nd and earning my place to race for Great Britain next year.
And finally, the World Championships in Marbella the icing on the cake and the perfect way to close out the season.
